Since Sushant Rajput’s death by suicide, a lot of industry insiders have been speaking about nepotism and the bullying culture prevalent in Bollywood. From director Abhinav Kashyap to Jiah Khan’s mother, Rabiya, so many have spoken about the treatment meted to the outsiders in the Indian film industry. A lot has also been spoken and speculated about Sushant’s suicide and what drove him to it. People have been coming up a lot of theories including how he was targeted by the Bollywood biggies who constantly sabotaged his career with Karan Johar, Salman Khan, and other prominent names being named as his culprits.
In the latest turn of events, a case has been filed against Karan Johar, Salman Khan, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Aditya Chopra, Sajid Nadiadwala, Bhushan Kumar, director Dinesh, and Ekta Kapoor. The case has been filed by advocate Sudhir Kumar Ojha who is claiming that it was because of a systematic targeting of Sushant’s career by these people that he was driven to the brink.
“I have filed a case against 8 people including Karan Johar, Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Salman Khan & Ekta Kapoor under Sections 306, 109, 504 & 506 of IPC in connection with actor Sushant Singh Rajput’s suicide case in a court in Muzaffarpur, Bihar,” said advocate Ojha in a media statement.
He further added, “In the complaint, I have alleged that Sushant Singh Rajput was removed from around seven films and some of his films were not released. Such a situation was created which forced him to take the extreme step.”
Soon after the news of this case going out, Ekta took to Instagram to express her disappointment at how things have escalated in the past few days. “Thanku for the case for not casting sushi….when Actually I LAUNCHED HIM. I’m beyond upset at how convoluted theories can b! Pls@let family n frns mourn in peace! Truth shall@prevail. CANNOT BELIEVE THIS!!!!!” she wrote in the caption.
It was with a supporting role in Ekta’s show Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil that Sushant had made his acting debut. He quickly shot to fame after this with yet another of Ekta’s show, Pavitra Rishta. In the past few days, both Karan Johar and Alia Bhatt have also been feeling the internet’s ire owing to a clip from Koffee With Karan in which the two can be seen sort of mocking Sushant. Since then a lot of netizens have unfollowed them on social media and #JusticeForSushantSinghRajput campaign has also been launched by people.
As per a report by DNA India, the advocate has named actress Kangana Ranaut as a witness in the case. The first hearing for the case has been scheduled for July 3. Let’s see where it goes from there.
