This Make-Up Artist Shared Her ‘Glass Skin’ Skincare Routine & You’ll Want To Try It!

When it comes to skincare routine, it is no secret that Korean skin is what many are trying to achieve. Korea, itself is the home of many skincare trends like the snail mask, cushion compacts and so on. And the latest one is ‘glass skin’. This trend is for the ones who are obsessed with clear, luminous and seemingly transparent skin. Yes, we know you’ve been looking for the right skincare regime for achieving the look. So, we would love to tell you that Ellie Choi, an aspiring make-up artist from Los Angeles, has broken it down for us in a single step-by-step post. There’s no reason for it to not go viral.

Her skincare thread has been re-posted multiple times and most of them have received about 20,000 likes and more. Why? You may ask. Her complexion in the post looks crystal clear, seems like glass and her skin has a lovely natural glow. It appears poreless and dewy.

In the thread of tweets she posted, which is also shared on Instagram, she reveals that her skin is “oily in T-zone and dry around her cheeks.” And then, she jumps to cleansing, the very first step of any good skincare routine.

As shared by Choi, it starts with taking off her make-up every night using Neutrogena’s Makeup Remover Cleansing Wipes (Rs 843). And you usually think the cleansing process stops here but it does not. She goes ahead and washes her face with a cleanser. Her recommendation for the process is Cetaphil’s Daily Facial Cleanser (Rs 702) and Kiehl’s Ultra Facial Cleanser (Rs 895). Both of these are good options. They won’t take away the moisture from your face and will remove all your make-up thoroughly.

After the cleansing is done, she moves on to toning her face in order to remove any remaining dirt and oil (a step you might be skipping, but you shouldn’t). For toning, she stocks up on Clinique Clarifying Lotion 3 (Rs 3,250.) Although, there is a perception about toner that it leaves your skin dry but we would like to clear out that it actually nourishes it.

Having said that, Choi applies a “decent amount” of moisturizer after toning to keep her skin hydrated all night long. Her two go-to products are Cetaphil’s Moisturizing Cream (Rs 326) and Wonjin Effects Water Bomb Cream (Rs 7,270), out of which the latter is better for oily skin.

“For that healthy, natural glow, exfoliation is a must,” she rightly says, and that’s the step Choi adds every other day after cleansing to get rid of dead skin using Skinfood’s Black Sugar Strawberry Wash Off Mask (Rs 1,394). Strawberry and sugar are both efficient yet gentle ingredients to clear out your dead skin. And a sheet mask from Innisfree (Rs 1,431), maybe once or twice a week will help the pores as well (you can use Innisfree It’s Real Squeeze Mask – Tea Tree available at Rs 100 for better results on oily skin, FYI.)

And now, finally, some diet tips coming up. Greens, fruits and vegetables are the key components. “For me, eating fried and greasy foods affects my skin! Make sure to drink tons of water daily,” she writes.

Consuming more H2O is always a good option, it improves not only your skin by clearing out skin toxins but also brings your body to better health as it improves metabolism. Although, some might say that the concept of drinking lots of water doesn’t have much to do with skin and is overrated. It doesn’t necessarily work on your body like magic but it certainly improves your skin health. So, bottoms up!

Choi has shown a great route to glass skin and we don’t mind amending our skincare routine at all. Give it a shot, ladies.
