If there’s one chat show where we can expect almost every major celebrity to spill their secrets, intentionally or unintentionally, it is Koffee With Karan. Apart from all the rumours and conjectures, Karan Johar effortlessly extracts every sensational bit of their personal lives of celebrities. In the latest episode that aired on Sunday, we saw Bollywood actors Sidharth Malhotra and Aditya Roy Kapoor gracing the couch.
Sidharth Malhotra has always kept his private life low-key, especially when it came to his relationships. But he spoke freely about his life with Karan. The A Gentleman star didn’t shy away from answering questions about his unsuccessful films, and even talked about his breakup with his first Bollywood co-star, Alia Bhatt.
On being asked if the Student Of The Year actors have continued to share a cordial equation, post-breakup, Sidharth admitted that while there wasn’t any awkwardness, they haven’t been able to meet after their split. “I don’t think it’s bitter. We haven’t really met after that, to be honest. And it’s civil. It’s been a while and it happens… just like any other relationship. I have known her for much longer. I did know her much before, even before we were dating. So, it’s not like we met as a particular boyfriend-girlfriend thing. I think it’ll remain. It’s just a matter of us coming back… whether it’s work or just socialising.”
When Karan inquired if their history had any possibility of being one of the contributing factors in his career choices, Sidharth confessed that it wouldn’t be so, as enough time had passed. “There is a reason that two people decide not to be together. There were lots of ups and downs and I tend to look at it when you take yourself away from a particular situation or an experience, you only think of the good after the event or relationship. So, all good memories and happy memories and I’m happy,” he stated.
He further reminisced about their good old days when he filmed his first ever sequence with Alia. “I’ve given my first ever shot with her. And we were doing that Radha song and that twirl I had to do, it was crazy! That’s got so much history.” Produced by Karan Johar himself, Student Of The Year marked Siddharth and Alia’s debut in Bollywood and it was around the same time that they both started dating. They were also seen together in Kapoor & Sons.
Alia is now dating another Bollywood heartthrob, Ranbir Kapoor, while Sidharth has been linked with Jacqueline Fernandez and Kiara Advani. He denied dating both of them on Koffee With Karan and told Karan that he wishes these rumours were true. “I’m having lesser fun in real life,” he quipped. He’s single, he claimed.
On the work front, Sidharth would be seen next in Jabariya Jodi with Parineeti Chopra that is expected to release on May 17, 2019 and Alia in Zoya Akhtar’s much awaited Gully Boy which co-stars Ranveer Singh and would release on February 14, 2019.
