I’ve Had Plastic Surgery: Shruti Haasan’s Reply To Trolls Is A Lesson In Self-Acceptance

Let’s get one thing straight, no two people look exactly the same. So what gives people the right to body shame anyone? Especially celebrities, who are constantly in the public eye. The downside of being a celebrity is that they become an easy target, however, an upside must be the satisfaction you get after delivering a perfect clapback. And we love celebrities from the wow-she’s-got-it-all clan having the badass confidence to shut down haters.

Tt seems no celebrity is immune to the plague of judgment and unnecessary remarks. Kamal Haasan’s daughter, actress Shruti Haasan became the recent target. And her latest post is an eye-opener for many who succumb to constant commenting and judging on the internet. For the first time, the actress went on to admit that she has gone under the knife and that it is just the way she chooses to live

So what prompted this acceptance? A while back, Shruti had posted a set of two pictures that revealed she was severely criticised and body-shamed. While some said that she got a nose job done, many others called her a ghost and also hurled other insensitive remarks like she looked sick.

We say it again, for what feels like an umpteenth time: What’s wrong with people?

Shruti didn’t take it lying down and she bounced back like a boss! Right after the above two pictures, she slammed all the haters in a long post that spoke about how it is not easy for a woman to cope up with the changes that go inside her body.

She wrote, “So …. I decided to post this right after my previous post and I’ll tell you why. I’m not one driven by other people’s opinions of me but the constant commenting and she’s too fat now she’s too thin is so avoidable. These two pictures have been taken three days apart. I’m sure there are women out there who relate to what I’m going to say. Most often I’m at the mercy of my hormones mentally and physically and over the years, I work hard to try and have a healthy relationship with it. It isn’t easy.”

She further spoke about how it is her life she only gets to decide the way she chooses to live. Bravo, girl! “I’m happy to say this is my life, my face and yes, I’ve had plastic surgery which I’m not ashamed to admit. Do I promote it? No. Am I against it? No. It’s just how I choose to live. The biggest favour we can do for ourselves and others is just be and learn to accept the changes and the movement of our bodies and minds”, she wrote.

Stressing on the need of how nobody should judge another person, Shruti also wrote an affirmative note, “Spread love and be chill. I’m learning every day to love me for me just a little more because the greatest love story of my life is with myself and I hope yours is too.”

Her words beam so much positivity!

More power to you girl! What a wonderful way to pen down the complexities of the mind. Hopefully, this gives more women the strength to embrace the idea of self-love without giving relevance to anonymous opinions on the internet.
