Shahid Kapoor’s Kabir Singh took the Internet by storm when the producers released the movie’s trailer on Monday. While the movie has received backlash for promoting the protagonist’s abusive behaviour, fans can’t stop talking about Shahid’s chemistry with Kiara Advani.

Recently, Shahid and Kiara were present at the trailer launch where they spoke at length about the film and their characters. A reporter kept on pestering the actress about the number of kisses she shared with Shahid onscreen. She replied that she did not keep count and that the journalist would have to watch it on the big screen on June 21. Shahid interjected and firmly said, “Ussi ka paisa hai (You’ll have to pay for a movie ticket and find out.)”
However, the reporter was not satisfied with the answer and kept on repeating the question to Kiara. While the actress dodged the reporter’s queries and tried to laugh it off, a frustrated Shahid Kapoor took charge of the situation and shut the reporter down.
Shahid lost his cool and snapped at the reporter: “Teri koi girlfriend nahi thi kya kaafi time se? Maine kaha dekhna hai toh paisa dena padega. Yeh nahi bola paisa ussi ka hai! Woh hi tune samjha and aisa tere dimaag mein atka! Arre pappi chhod kar koi sawaal poocho, acting bhi ki hai logon ne iss picture mein. (Looks like you haven’t had a girlfriend in a while! I said if you want to see it [kissing scene], you will have to pay. I never said you will have to pay only for that. That’s what you assumed. Why do you have to keep asking about kissing scenes? People have also acted in this film you know!)”
As the crowd applauded Shahid’s sassy response, he dodged the situation and moved on to the next question.
Shahid Kapoor and Kiara Advani will be sharing the screen for the first time in Kabir Singh. The movie is the Hindi remake of Telugu blockbuster Arjun Reddy. Helmed by Sandeep Vanga, the film tracks the story of a brilliant yet impulsive young surgeon with anger management issues and a troubled love life. He ventures on a path of self-destruction after his girlfriend is forced to marry another man.

Meanwhile, Shahid Kapoor unveiled his wax figure at the Madame Tussauds Wax Museum in Singapore. He took to Instagram to share his picture with the statue, which sure does look like a spitting image of the actor.

Shahid left for Singapore earlier this week along with his wife Mira, daughter Misha and son Zain. However, the actor said his kids would not be with him for the unveiling ceremony. “As for Misha and Zain, we don’t plan to take them for the unveiling of the statue. Otherwise, they may think, ‘wow, what just happened?’ as it could be a traumatic experience for them to see two dads (laughs). So, only Mira will join me,” he said.
