With only a year into the industry, the Kedarnath actress Sara Ali Khan is already selective about the scripts that come her way proving that she means business. Earlier, Sara had dropped out of Imtiaz Ali’s Aaj Kal opposite Kartik Aaryan because the script didn’t go down well with her. It was only after the script was rewritten, Sara decided to come back on board.
Recent reports suggested that the Simmba actress had also turned down Shoojit Sircar’s biopic on Sardar Udham Singh opposite Vicky Kaushal, feeling the film wouldn’t give her enough exposure as an actress. Besides, her shoot schedule for the film was also reportedly clashing with Aaj Kal. This news indeed broke the hearts of all Sara and Vicky fans. They have a huge fan-following individually, so one can only imagine what great deal it meant to see them together on the big screen.
Vicky Kaushal in and as Sardar Udham Singh
Well, there’s still hope. This just in, Sara and Vicky will be sharing screen space soon in a romantic-comedy by Anees Bazmee. The two have been roped in as the film’s lead and will be romancing each other in this currently untitled project. We can already imagine them sharing a wonderful chemistry on-screen. Here’s a little preview for you from an event they attended earlier this year.
A source told a popular entertainment portal, “Anees Bazmee wanted a young and fresh cast for this buddy comedy, which is on the lines of a madcap entertainer that he’s known for. It’s a comedy of errors and Vicky has already given his nod to the film. He approached Sara Ali Khan because the director feels that she’s a terrific performer and people haven’t still seen the comical side to her.”
Backed by Ekta Kapoor, a family friend of Sara’s, this film is Anees’ next directorial venture after Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 starring Kartik Aaryan. “Sara loved the script. It’s an out and out comedy and Ekta is a family friend. Her mother Amrita Singh is very close to Ekta and they were planning to launch Sara anyway in films with Kedarnath. But after a lot of trouble, she had to cop out of the film but she had always promised Amrita that she would work with Sara very soon. It’s finally happening,” added the source. The film is set to roll out sometime later next year.
In other news, after Aaj Kal, Sara Ali Khan is currently working on the remake of the 1995 hit film Coolie No.1 opposite Varun Dhawan. Both films are scheduled for release next year in 2020.
As for Vicky Kaushal, apart from Sardar Udham Singh, he will be next seen in the mystery-horror Bhoot Part One: The Haunted Ship. Both films will come out in 2020. Only two more months to go until it’s officially 2020 and our wait for amazing cinema is almost over!
