Almost two decades ago, a young boy and a young girl charmed their way into our hearts–the boy with his innocent boy-next-door romantic portrayal and the girl with her inside out beauty–in Rehnaa Hai Terre Dil Mein (2001). Together, they made us believe that true love, eventually, finds its way. These people are none other than our childhood (and adult-life) heartthrob R. Madhavan and Miss Asia Pacific 2000 Dia Mirza. Popularly known as RHTDM (read rhythm), this movie made sure that the audiences don’t get over its romanticism for a long long time. I mean, you’d be lying if you said Zara Zara still doesn’t transport you to very-much-in-love Dia dancing in the meadows and orchids, 19 years later.
Speaking of 19 years later, reports are doing rounds that RHTDM is all set to finally get a sequel! This is just the news we needed in these gloomy times to remember that there’s more to life than, well, 2020.
I know what you must be thinking. Are Madhavan and Dia in the sequel? Who’s directing it? Sources suggest that the sequel which is already in the works will, in fact, have Madhavan and Dia as the leads. How exciting is that! The makers have almost locked the script too and contacted the lead pair to reprise their roles. A source revealed Mid-day:
“The makers toyed with some concepts, on and off, over the years. Only now have they found a script that has appealed to everyone and seems a natural progression to the lives of Maddy and Reena. The script is in the final stage of development.”
Report are abuzz that the sequel will explore Maddy and Reena’s life after marriage. It will be a more mature storyline showcasing the disillusionment that creeps into their marriage and how they try to revive their relationship.
During a live chat last month, actress Dia had dropped a major hint of RHTDM 2 when she said, “We are doing our best to make it happen, but we will only work together when we can give our best. There is something so special about Reena and Maddy and I think there was an innocence and honesty we shared in RHTDM that resonates so deeply with everyone even today. We wouldn’t want to dilute that in any way.“
