Ekta Kapoor, the queen of Indian soap operas, shared a video of the iconic kiss from TV show, Kasamh Se. Ekta doesn’t shy away from showing romance (considered a taboo by most ‘family’ oriented TV shows) in her shows. One of the first kisses to be shown on Indian television, this intimate scene was shot with then 17-year-old Prachi Desai and Ram Kapoor, who was in his early thirties. It took place between Prachi’s character, Bani Dixit, and Ram Kapoor’s character, Jai Walia, who were married in this 2006 show.
In her caption, Ekta Kapoor narrated how Prachi Desai was shy and embarrassed by the scene and hence, it had to be shot in the dark with shadows at play. The kiss alone, which lasted for three minutes, took three days to shoot and took advantage of various camera tricks to make the liplock look real.
Ekta captioned the post, “Took us 3 days to shoot this 3 minute sequence… Bani refused to kiss Mr. Walia so to save the 17year old any embarrassment and yet get a passionate sequence we used shadow n lights… highly rated, this became one of the most talked about consummation scenes of Balaji ! Who misses #KASAMSE ! N the romance of mr WALIA N BANI! ( bdw ram looks sooooo goood here) #kasamse #shouldwe @shivangisinghchauhan @prachidesai @iamramkapoor @balajitelefilms @chloeferns @tanusridasgupta
Kasamh Se, which ended over a decade ago, marked the beginning of debutant Prachi’s acting career. She went on to do films like Rock On, Bol Bachchan and Once Upon A Time In Mumbai. At the end of the post, Ekta dropped a subtle hint in the form of a hashtag, saying ‘Should we,’ hinting towards a sequel!
