Priyanka Chopra Regrets Endorsing Fairness Products & Swears To Never Do So Again

Ever since Priyanka Chopra voiced her support for the Black Lives Matter protest, she’s been receiving plenty of flak on social media. She was called a hypocrite for joining the anti-racism movement while endorsing products of fairness brands in India.

Priyanka Chopra Deeply Regrets Endorsing Fairness Products

Don’t we all remember this?

In a recent interview with a popular magazine, Priyanka Chopra opened up about the bullying she went through in America because of her skin colour. High school was not kind to the Quantico star, and for a long time, she believed that dark skin was not pretty. She also confessed that when she was a little girl, she would apply talcum-powder on her face to appear fair.

The constant bullying she faced in high school ultimately took a toll on her mental health and confidence. The actress further added that from all her gora-chitta cousins, she was the only one who was dusky. A few family members did not make life easy for her either and some of them even called her ‘kaali’

It was only much later on in Priyanka’s life that she became a more responsible icon and started picking the roles she took on. More than becoming comfortable in her skin, she became aware of the impact her work had on the audience. In multiple interviews with different media channels, Priyanka Chopra also expressed her regret in endorsing and promoting fairness creams in India. The good part is that the actress says she will now not associate herself with any more such advertisements in the future.

We understand that systemic racism is a huge issue around the world and advertisements for fairness creams or the products themselves are only propagating that idea but all we can do is learn from our mistakes. Yes, Priyanka Chopra, has done a few projects that she’s not proud of, but she’s owning up to it, and that’s what matters. People change and evolve all the time, and Priyanka Chopra is no exception. She’s made a name for herself in the west and is a role model for many women struggling with body issues

Just before we sign off, no matter what your skin colour may be, never allow it (or any bodily feature) to define you. You are beautiful as you are, and don’t let anyone else make you think otherwise.
