As toxic smog has engulfed the city, it’s inhabitants are scrambling to protect themselves–whether it’s stepping out in anti-pollution masks or installing air purifiers inside their homes. Actor Priyanka Chopra, who is in the city to shoot for Netflix’s White Tiger, based on the Man Booker Prize-winning novel of the same name by Arvind Adiga, took to Instagram to voice her views on the alarming situation.
Posting a selfie wearing an anti-pollution mask, Priyanka spoke about how difficult it was to shoot in such dire conditions. She also expressed her gratitude for having access to air purifiers and masks, saying she was “blessed”, and asked her fans to pray for the homeless, who can’t escape the toxic air.
Her caption read, “Shoot days for #thewhitetiger. It’s so hard to shoot here right now that I can’t even imagine what it must be like to live here under these conditions. We r blessed with air purifiers and masks. Pray for the homeless. Be safe everyone. #airpollution #delhipollution😷 #weneedsolutions #righttobreathe”
On the previous day, Priyanka had expressed her excitement on being in Delhi to shoot for the movie. The Quantico actor had posted a video from her drive on Instagram with the caption, “Early morning shoot when it is still middle of the night. Fun!”
Besides, Priyanka, several other B-town celebrities have expressed their concern about the air quality in the Delhi-NCR region, which is currently at hazardous levels.
Veteran actor Rishi Kapoor tried to cope with the dire situation with humour, posting a meme about Delhi’s bad air quality on Twitter:

Actor Diz Mirza, who is currently UN Environment’s Goodwill Ambassador for India, has never shied away from voicing her opinions about issues pertaining to the environment. She took to Twitter to question the BCCI for hosting T20 matches in New Delhi despite the alarming state of its air:
This. Is. Beyond. Absurd. #AirQuality index is off the charts @BCCI how can you be so ignorant? #T20I https://t.co/WQpcrrMIUI pic.twitter.com/oFmMVllbPS

Actor Sonam Kapoor, who often visits Delhi, shared Priyanka’s post on her Instagram stories, in addition to sharing a viral picture of a couple wearing anti-pollution masks, against the backdrop of a very smoggy India Gate.
Actor Arjun Rampal, who was in the city with his girlfriend Gabriella Demetriades, also posted about his disappointment on Twitter after he landed in Delhi:
Just landed in Delhi, the air here is just unbreathable.Absolutely disgusting what has become of this city. The pollution is visible, dense smog. People arein masks. How much more disaster does one need to wake up and do the right thing? Tell ourselves we are wrong. #DelhiBachao

Here’s hoping that all these public figures making noise about the problem will urge the government to take much-needed action on this situation before it’s too late.
