After a spectacular display of art, fashion and panache at the Met Gala 2019, Priyanka Chopra Jonas in her Dior gown gave us a look that’s hard to forget. The Quantico actress finally made her Festival de Cannes debut dressed in Robert Cavalli couture – a look we’re trying hard to forget.
Yesterday was PC’s first official appearance on the Cannes red carpet and the outfit she picked disappointed many.
Priyanka wore a custom Roberto Cavalli tube gown in black. The gown had sequins work all over and lace-up detail at the back. We have to admit, when we heard that Priyanka Chopra was going to be appearing on the Cannes red carpet for the very first time, our expectations shot up!
Oh, wait! It also had a thigh-high slit (which we feel, was placed poorly) and copper sequins around the waist.
Mrs. Jonas is at Cannes representing the jewellry brand Chopard. The very same brand that she wore to both her wedding in Jodhpur, Rajasthan.
Her jewellery, including the earrings and the solitaire ring in this look, is by Chopard.
If this isn’t off-the-rack and if this is, in fact, custom-made then we can’t figure out what went wrong here. Either it’s a result of last-minute outfit change or ignored fitting sessions. But one thing’s for sure – we expected a lot more from our desi girl.
Let’s just hope her other looks at the film festival make up for this heartbreaking debut. Come one, PeeCee, you can do it!
