Remember when Kim Kardashian lost her ‘diamond earring’ on a Bora Bora vacation and raised hell until she got it back? Of course, you do. Perhaps mostly ‘coz of how Kourtney reacted to all her melodrama and promptly shut her by saying, “There are people that are dying Kim.” Honestly, the most iconic episode of Keeping Up With The Kardashians to date!
Sadly, Kim has time and again proven her inability to give a flying F about all the “people that are dying,” like literally. It was only yesterday that she had us shook with a fresh exhibit of the same. The reality TV mogul turned 40 last week and yesterday took to Twitter to share how she celebrated her birthday in an extremely tone-deaf statement.
Kim wrote in a series of tweets “Before COVID, I don’t think any of us truly appreciated what a simple luxury it was to be able to travel and be together with family and friends in a safe environment.” She further added, “After 2 weeks of multiple health screens and asking everyone to quarantine, I surprised my closest inner circle with a trip to a private island where we could pretend things were normal just for a brief moment in time.”
Clearly, Kim has no idea that booking a private island for a huge group of friends and family is no “simple luxury” and also, not what normal people actually consider “normal.” I mean good for her as well as her friends and fam who got to play pretend but isn’t it extremely tone-deaf for a celeb to legit flaunt it on social media. There are people who are dying, there are those who are struggling to make ends meet and those who haven’t met their families in months but, of course, Kim has no empathy to understand that.
Just for context, there are literally places in America where the healthcare system is so choked that many people cannot even get tested for COVID-19 before it’s too late. There are schools where the entire staff and students are being put at risk simply because teachers cannot avail tests owing to the inundating caseloads. To casually encroach upon the healthcare facilities for absolutely non-essential activities and to have “multiple health screens” is downright selfish, irresponsible, and inconsiderate. But to flaunt it and rub it in the faces of those struggling for their very lives is just downright cruel.
