What’s happening in Kartik Aaryan’s professional life? It’s the one question that’s bugging all his fans. The actor has become a part of the biggest Bollywood controversy of 2021. It all started when he was ousted from Dharma Productions’ Dostana 2. While the actor did not comment on it, the production house issued a statement on their social media handles. It read, “Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence–we will be recasting ‘Dostana 2’, directed by Collin D’Cunha.”
Soon after, things took another shocking turn when the actor was let go from Red Chillies Entertainment’s Goodbye Freddie as well.
Now, as surprising as it may sound, the grapevine is buzzing that Kartik has lost another potential project. Apparently, the actor was all set to sign Aanand L Rai’s upcoming gangster movie. However, it seems that the filmmaker has changed his mind and decided to sign another actor. Seriously, what’s happening in B-Town?
According to a leading publication, “Kartik was in advanced level talks with Aanand, and had read the script and heard the narration too. But, before he could sign on the dotted line, things fell apart.”
Not just that, a little birdie tells us that Bollywood filmmakers are influenced by Karan Johar’s decision to not work with the actor again. “The fact that Karan dropped Kartik seems to have influenced others. So, this could be the third instance where Kartik may be losing out on getting to work with an established filmmaker like Aanand,” they said.
While talking to a leading daily, Aanand said that he had not officially signed Kartik for his untitled project. He said, “As a production house, we work on several scripts and pitch it to actors–that’s the process. Actors keep meeting you, you keep telling them what you are working on, they express their desire to collaborate. And then, depending upon the subject, you decide if you should approach them. But that doesn’t mean you have signed them.”
On the flip side, rumour mills are abuzz that Aanand is considering Ayushmann Khurrana for his movie. As per reports, “Aanand is now considering Ayushmann Khurrana for this film with whom he had earlier collaborated on Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) and Shubh Mangal Zyada Saavdhan (2020), so it’s not a surprise if he may have readily come on board.”
Well, we may not know the exact reason for these sudden replacements, but we’re glad that we will soon watch Kartik in Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2. Till then, we hope that there are no more surprises and the movie releases without any further hindrance!
