Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham was undoubtedly one of the most loved films of Bollywood and till date, it remains a guilty pleasure for us. As much as we were in love with the main leads and their jokes, romantic moments and cool dialogues, it was the pretty little girl who stole the show. Nobody could ace the ‘chandu ke chacha‘ riddle better than her and her friendship with the adorable ladoo (later played by Hrithik Roshan) took us back to our childhood. In case you haven’t guessed, she was the young ‘Poo’, whose sassy grown-up role was later, played by Kareena Kapoor Khan. Well, guess what? Almost 18 years later, Malvika Raaj is all set to dazzle us again on the big screen.
While the movie turned out to be a breakthrough for several actors including Kajol, Shah Rukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Hrithik Roshan among others, Malvika was nowhere to be seen again. Well, now that she’s all grown up and more beautiful than ever, she has decided to step into the spotlight and face the cameras once again. Turns out, she wanted to do this all along. Reminiscing about K3G, she said, “The film will always be special as that’s when I realised I wanted to act.”
Malvika, who is also the niece of actress Anita Raj, is going to star opposite actor Danny Denzongpa’s son Rinzing in an action thriller movie called Squad. Her role in the film would be of a fierce sniper. “She’s very knowledgeable about weapons which is important to the storyline. There’s a lot of action and a little bit of romance with Rinzing,” she said.
She further expressed that doing a film with her co-star, Rinzing makes the experience of her comeback in Bollywood even more special as the two have been friends for a long time now. They were in the same school and grew up in the same social circle. “When we were young, we even attended each other’s birthday parties so now sharing the screen with him is going to be a lot of fun,” she admitted.
The film is being directed by Jyoti Kapur Das and will be shot in Mumbai and Budapest starting April 2019. Well, we certainly expect great things from Malvika and have no doubts that she is going to ace her role just the way she did in K3G. We wish her good luck!
