I am crazy about Indian wear, especially shaadi wala Indian wear! Dressing up in pretty lehengas, heavy suits, shararas and sarees are my favourite part about weddings (after food, of course). So much that I don’t even wait for wedding invitations to decide what to wear. I always have at least one summer and one winter wedding look planned in my head. This talent comes in handy, I tell you. Also, celebrity looks give me some major inspiration ‘coz, let’s face it, you can’t buy a new outfit for every wedding you attend.
So, Mainu lehenga dede mehenga no more! All you need is a good masterji this wedding season to look like a million bucks without actually shedding millions from your pocket. How many millions, you ask? Here’s Isha Ambani to scale.
Isha Ambani’s mint and rose lehenga caught my attention for multiple reasons. First things first, it’s by Sabyasachi, I’m sorry #VintageSabya, as captioned by Ami Patel, the celebrity stylist. And what makes it vintage is not the velvet blouse but the collar on that blouse, if you ask me! Isha adds a worldly elegance to any Sabya outfit like nobody’s business. And with this look, she has made it very much ours by reintroducing us to the retro blouse design that we have grown up seeing in our grandparents’ old pictures.
As is the case with any outfit by Sabyasachi, only Sabyasachi Heritage Jewelry can do justice to it. So, the Ambani daughter completed the look with gold-toned bangles, a ring, and a pearl and emerald set of choker, jhumkas and maangtika. Here’s a closer look at her jewellery and that dope blouse design that I just can’t get out of my head.
This peter pan collar, that too on a sharp V-neckline, on a rose-pink velvet blouse is goals! It comes with zardozi embroidery on the lapel, perfectly complementing the intricate chikankari on the mint-coloured dupatta. One cannot not fall in love with this design. And what great timing, aka the month of love, to debut the lehenga!
All you have to do is take the same fabric to your masterji, show him a picture of Isha in this ensemble and let his sewing machine do the talking. If you have the time, I would suggest that you go for hand embroidery because let’s face it, there’s nothing like it. It will cost you less than a brand new lehenga!
Don’t think about it too much. Head to a fabric market stat and get the celeb-approved look for less.
