While big Bollywood names might be missing at the Cannes red carpet this year, some of the Indian-origin influencers have made up for the absence. Dressed in their designer best, they have ensured to make a fashion statement while bringing new, fresh energy to the Film Festival. Diipa Büller-Khosla is one of these influencers who has been busy turning heads at the Cannes red carpet. However, it’s not just her flawless fashion looks that have us impressed right now.
Last week, Diipa claimed the Cannes red carpet dressed in a frilly, butternut yellow beauty by Studio NK. And while we did take fashion notes, it was something else that left us absolutely in awe. A day after her red carpet outing, Diipa posted BTS pictures where she could be seen using a breast pump while getting ready for Cannes. The influencer posted the pictures with a long caption talking about how as a public figure and a woman, she is constantly judged for the choices that she makes.
Diipa had a baby girl just a couple of months ago and was being questioned for leaving her at home during the Cannes Film Festival. She wrote while addressing the topic, “Whether I choose to breastfeed my daughter or not, should not be the subject of anybody’s conversation. There are countless concerns that go into breastfeeding, it simply doesn’t work for all mothers, something that no mother should be judged for online or off. In response to the frequently asked question, I’ve decided on supplementing at this stage ( a combination of both breastfeeding and using a formula). Moreover, while I’m away for a two-day business trip, I prepared for my absence by breast-pumping multiple times prior to my departure.”
Diipa further added, “This is just a reminder that online personalities are human as well, where life and feelings lay behind a screen. I kindly ask that you withhold judgmental remarks regarding any mother who is on this beautiful journey of motherhood. As much as the concern is appreciated, it is a personal journey between mother and child and should be treated as such❤️”
It remains a fact that we as women are constantly told what to do with our bodies and how to live our lives. From what we wear to our parenting style, everything that we do is open to scrutiny. If only, we could get a penny for each time they were told what to do with their bodies. Well, kudos to Diipa for setting the score right!
