It’s true 2018 was a year of weddings for Bollywood. While Sonam Kapoor-Anand Ahuja, Neha Dhupia-Angad Bedi, Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh and Priyanka Chopra-Nick Jonas gave us all happy tears, the news of Arjun Rampal and Mehr Jesia splitting after 20 years of their marriage was heartbreaking. They announced their separation in May last year and have finally been granted a divorce today.
The actor and former Miss India got married in 1998, way before Arjun made his debut into Bollywood with in 2001. They have two daughters together named, Mahikaa and Myra. According to the ruling by the family court, the daughters will now reside with their mother at their duplex in Bandra.
“After a petition for divorce by mutual consent is filed, their plea is scrutinised, registered and then, the couple is referred to a marriage counsellor to attempt a reconciliation. If that fails, the couple is given six more months to work things out. Six months later, if they are resolute in their decision to part ways and have complied with the terms of divorce mutually agreed to between them, a court draws up a decree of divorce,” said a court official. Judge Shailaja Sawant granted the couple divorce under the Special Marriage Act.
In May 2018, Arjun and Mehr had released a joint statement in which they clarified, “We are a family, our love for each other is forever intact and we shall always be there for one another and most importantly, for our children Mahikaa and Myra.”
“We have always been solid when it has come to us, we will continue to be solid for each other and our loved ones, as we embark upon a new journey…” further said the statement.

Since then, a lot has happened in the life of the actor, producer, screenwriter and model. Arjun Rampal met Gabriella Demetriades back in 2009 at an IPL party and began dating her soon after his split with Mehr. The two have been living together and are quite regular in sharing their intimate moments on Instagram. From lunch dates to vacations, their PDA is all over social media. Recently, the Daddy actor also had a baby boy with the South African model.
“That gracious thing made of tears, of happiness, gratitude and light. A rainbow appeared into our lives. So blessed we feel, gratitude and abundance of joy. Welcome junior Rampal, into our lives. Thank you all for your graciousness, love and beautiful wishes. Say hello to baby Arik Rampal,” captioned the 46-year-old actor sharing the cutest picture of him with baby Arik on Instagram.
But this didn’t change his relationship with ex-wife Mehr and their children together. All of them have been happy and supportive of Arjun’s new life. Talking about his daughters’ reaction to Gabriella’s pregnancy, Arjun had revealed earlier, “It’s personal and not something that I’d like to talk about. My children have been complete champions and extremely supportive of our decision.” His Instagram is, in fact, full of their pictures. The three seem to spend a lot of quality time together.
Not too long ago, earlier this year, he even shared a picture of Mehr with their daughters vacationing in Paris. “Parisian ladies 💖 #paris #vacation #beautifulgirls,” he had captioned the post.
Both Arjun and Mehr haven’t given an official statement as yet.
