India’s Tennis Ace, Ankita Raina, has made history for winning not one but two titles for the country at ITF Thailand. She won her first ITF singles title of the season and the 10th of her career. Ankita defeated Chloe Paquet in the summit clash of the event in Nonthaburi, Thailand on Sunday. She has also won the doubles title with Dutch partner Bibiane Schoofs.

Ankita, the third seed player, recorded a win of 6-3 7-5 over the fourth seed, France’s Chloe, who ranked even places below her at 178. This was Ankita’s first win against Chloe, who had emerged victorious in the previous two rounds.
It has certainly been a good start to 2020 for Ankita, as she had recently made it to the semi-finals at a similar event in Canberra.
“It’s a positive start to the season. Actually the last year also ended on a winning note in Solapur singles and doubles both. I didn’t get much time for pre-season training but my coach was travelling for three weeks which helped me to train physically and tennis wise,” Ankita told news agency PTI.

“We came a few days early before the tournament started here in Thailand. At this level, little aspects need to be improved every day and even during tournaments, so even if I get 3-4 sessions with my coach during the tournament, improvement is seen,” she added.
Ankita has been playing tennis since the age of five and is the current Indian Number 1 in both women’s singles and doubles. We’re extremely proud of her, and hope she continues to bring laurels for the country!
