It started with the Gangubai Kathiawadi trailer last month. One look and we put our bets on Alia Bhatt, almost sure that she was all set to claim 2021. Not even a month has passed since then and her first look from SS Rajamouli’s Roudram Ranam Rudhiram (RRR) comes as a confirmation. Take this from us: Alia’s on her way to make it one of the most epic years of her professional life and we are watching her while she is at it!
Rest assured, Alia has already given us some jaw-dropping looks to appropriately fuel the anticipation. And her freshly dropped look from RRR is no different. Here’s everything that we love about the look:
Taking The Traditional Route
Set against the backdrop of the colonized India back in the 1920s, RRR is a fictionlised account of Telugu tribal leaders Alluri Sitarama Raju (Ram Charan) and Komaram Bheem (Jr NTR). Alia plays Sita, Sitarama Raju’s wife in the film. The film also marks Alia’s debut in the Telugu film industry and the actress has decided to do it with appropriate grandeur and gusto.
Her first look from the film evokes a rather traditional image for us. She has been styled in a green crepe silk saree paired with a puff-sleeved brocade blouse. From the modest neckline to the striking contrast, the aesthetics instantly take you to South India. It sounds only fit that Alia has been dressed up in a crepe saree given that Tamil Nadu is known for its crepe silk drapes just second in popularity to world-famous Kanchipuram.
It is a simple albeit impactful look. Something that you’d say “yes” to without a second thought. In fact, it has us yearning for more. The stylist has hit the spot and we definitely hope that they have some more silk looks in store for us.
Hair & Makeup
We took some votes and most feel that it is Alia’s curly hair that’s elevating the entire look. There is just something so raw and intense about center-parted curly hair. A touch of restraint has been added to the hair by loosely typing it together and adding a minimal maang tikka. This and the hint of tangerine blooms in the hair are the details that are doing it for us! That said, the traditional maroon bindi is definitely adding to the overall charm. We also like how Alia has been given intent kohl-lined eyes while keeping the skin work minimal!
When done right, period dramas have a way of starting trends and we can already see that happening with Alia’s looks from Both RRR and Gangubai Kathiwadi. Like we said, the girl is on her way to claiming the year and we stan this hustle.
