When it comes to Indian couture and bridal lehengas, there’s really no one who can top the famous designer duo, Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla. They’re Bollywood’s long time favourites, especially loved by internationally celebrated fashionista, Sonam Kapoor, and her stylist and producer sister, Rhea Kapoor. Even in Rhea Kapoor’s debut film as a producer, the designers had a major role to play.
Now, whether you’ve watched Veere Di Wedding or not, you know that Rhea is also the stylist responsible for the iconic fashion moments in the movie… and that she chose Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla to style the female leads in their exquisite garments. For good reason evidently. Everyone is raving about the lehenga that Kareena Kapoor Khan aka Kalindi (who plays the commitment-phobic bride-to-be in the box-office hit) walks down the aisle in.
In the movie, Kalindi chooses her mom’s vintage shaadi ka lehenga for her big day. The beautiful ivory and mustard AJSK lehenga has all that it takes to be a modern day bride’s dream: it’s a true classic with a unique modern touch.

What we didn’t know up till today, though, is that the lehenga that Bebo wears in the film is an actual vintage piece that Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla designed over 25 years ago! Yes, Sandeep Khosla, on his Insta-story today, revealed that it was discovered when Rhea Kapoor visited their studio to work on the outfits for Veere Di Wedding.
The designers, along with Rhea, were going through old trunks of garments they’d designed in the initial few years of their career when they came upon the ensemble. Apart from alterations and a few modern touches to Kareena’s blouse and a new dupatta, Khosla says, the outfit remains practically the same. Watch Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla’s Insta-stories to know the deets!
A post from the label’s Instagram feed mentions the detail on Kareena Kapoor Khan’s on-screen lehenga, as well.

In fact, as the post caption reads, all female leads, including Sonam Kapoor, Shikha Talsania and Swara Bhasker, are in actual vintage AJSK!
The fact that the lehengas have a story to them on and off-screen makes the film even more exciting to watch, we think. So, go on and watch Veere Di Wedding to take fashion inspiration from all the awe-inspiring outfits – there are so many more!
