I mean, anything is more useful than showing a damsel in distress and a husband from hell. And to prove our point, we made a round-up of 5 TV jodis that were a lost cause from day 1.
Shlok & Aastha From Iss Pyaar Ko kya Naam Doon..Ek Baar Phir
Where do we even begin with this couple? Shlok marries Aastha only to destroy her life. And when she tries to get out of her marriage, he blackmails her into staying with him. WHAT? This Shlok guy deserves to be behind the bars!
Jagdish & Anandi From Balika Vadhu
Jagdish and Anandi were married off when they were kids. However, once the two grow up, he becomes Anandi’s worst nightmare. He even cheats on her and marries someone else. It’s a good thing Anandi puts an end to his torturous ways by divorcing him. The two were a match made in hell!
Anupama & Vanraj From Anupama
If there’s one TV character that we can never understand then it has to be Vanraj Shah. He has a wonderful wife who he cannot tolerate because he feels he deserves better. He constantly discourages her and kicks her out of the house at the smallest of things. That’s not all, he also cheats on her and blames her for it. It’s a good thing that the two got divorced cause we were honestly tired of Vanraj’s torturous way. TBH, Anupama deserves someone who understands her and supports her.
Samrat & Urmi From Doli Armaano Ki
If there was an award for the worst husband of all time then Samrat would be the deserving candidate for it. He is an abusive man who has zero respect for his wife. He even goes out of his way to ruin Urmi’s life and doesn’t care about their son Shaurya either. Fortunately, Urmi walks out of her toxic marriage when she learns of her husband’s affair, later in the show. I feel she should’ve walked out sooner!
Aditya & Malini From Imlie
We get that Aditya was forced to get married to Imlie but that doesn’t change the fact that she is his wife. Despite being a married man, he hides the truth from his steady girlfriend, Malini, and gets married to her. That’s not all, he then starts developing feelings for Imlie and plans to divorce his second wife. TBH, Aditya doesn’t deserve either of the two women.
We’ve said it once and we’ll say it again —women are not rehab centres for men. It’s high time the makers of our TV serials realise this and show us some positive and progressive content.
