Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour movie has made it to India, and Swifties are evidently excited. At this point, calling this film a film sounds like an understatement, because it’s clearly so much. It’s about the matching bracelets, the colours, the chants and above all, the vibe. Fans who attended the shows this weekend, also shared pictures and videos that prove what a common interest does.
On top of everything, something that not only brings women together, but also gives them the space to just be, makes it all the more special. So many people were keen on attending the concerts during the tour, but understandably, not everybody could – so this is also a unique experience, given that it’s accessible.
However, what makes it different is how women are getting to express. This is something new for our society, because women are either made to feel less ‘smart’ for being enthusiastic about ‘feminine’ interests or their interests are just ignored. Of course, it’s also a lot about how men take up space – literally and otherwise.
A number of videos of women dancing their heart out and just having fun is a happy spectacle. It’s also very genuine. So, the Taylor Swift fandom of women is changing things for a society that is used to men talking about their interests – with women getting (or taking) some space, finally.
