Karan’s friends have spoken up on his behalf and released statements refuting the claim. According to the press briefing they held, Karan is being framed.

Now, there’s another development in the case. The 34-year-old woman who accused Karan has been arrested by Mumbai police for staging an attack on herself to manipulate the case and defame the actor.

On May 25, Oshiwara police had filed an FIR where the victim had alleged that when she was on morning walk she was attacked by two men on a bike. The victim in her complaint said that she is a patient of depression and therefore her doctor suggested her to go for morning walks. During the attack, she alleged she was threatened with acid attack and the attackers also threw a note asking her to take back the case.

On the basis of the allegations, the police arrested the two accused from Mira Road. However, during further investigations, the cops learned that two men were distant relatives of the woman’s lawyer Ali Kashif Khan. On questioning the lawyer, he admitted the truth about the planned attack. Later, the cops found out that the woman was also involved in the staged attack.

Talking about how this entire episode was very damaging for his mind, Karan said, “These charges were more damaging to my mind than my career. As far as the latter is concerned, I am doing fine, because offers are already coming in. I want to take my time to evaluate every offer. Meanwhile, I will continue writing my book.”
