While most star kids follow their parents’ footsteps, a few try their hands at different fields. Navya Nanda belongs to the latter category. While she has a stellar social media presence, this star kid has no plans to break into Bollywood. But did you know it was actually Shweta Bachchan who kept her away from the silver screen?
It was On Koffee With Karan Season 6 when Abhishek Bachchan and Shweta spilled the tea about their equation, their family drama and more. Amidst all the fun chit-chats the sibling duo had with the host, Karan Johar, Shweta talked about whether she would allow her daughter to enter Bollywood as an actress.
Shweta said, “I’m on Instagram and I follow my brother and know the hate he gets. Whether you like him as an actor or not, it will bother me as a sister. I hated it, it gave me sleepless nights and I don’t want yet another member of my family to be in this business for selfish reasons. Firstly, I don’t know what Navya’s talent is. Just because she is related to some famous people, doesn’t mean she has what she takes.”
In all honesty, Shweta isn’t wrong! Star kids usually get a lot of flak on social media for even the tiniest error.
Navya is no stranger to trolling even though she has stayed away from the limelight. In a media interaction, she opened up about trolls and said, “I remember there was one specific comment that I got really upset about. I had given an interview about how my mom inspired me a lot because she is a working woman. Somebody commented, ‘but what does she do?’ My response to that was that she is a mother and that’s a full-time job itself.”
Shweta’s apprehension about Navya comes from a place of love and concern. You can’t blame her for her mothery instinct!
