When Sajid Khan Talked About His Engagement With Gauahar Khan

There was a time when Sajid Khan was one of the most successful people in the Indian film industry. Then he got drunk on power. What followed was a dark phase. The man went on a rampage. His arrogance earned him a bad reputation and so did his attitude towards women. Then in 2018, he became one of the most named people in the #MeToo movement. However, the damage started years ago and Sajid paid the price in instalments. His broken engagement with Gauahar Khan was one of them!

An old interview of Sajid Khan with Kiran Juneja from, her show Koshish Se Kaamyaabi Tak, is doing the rounds on the internet. In the interview, Sajid talks about his journey as well as his broken engagement with Gauahar Khan. The two dated for a year in 2003 and were also engaged. Yep, that’s right!

Talking about the reason behind calling off their engagement, Sajid said, “We were together for one year. She is a lovely girl. I don’t like to take names publicly on a show, but it’s okay since the world knows about it. Our engagement was also covered.” He further explained, “Uss waqt mera character bahot dheela tha. (I had a very bad character at that time) I was going around with many girls. I used to lie to them. Kabhi kuch aisi badtameezi nahi ki lekin haan har ladki ko I love you and will you marry me bolta tha mein uss waqt. Ab tak meri 350 shaadi honi chahiye thi. Lekin nhi hui. Kahi na kahi mai jitni bhi larkio k sath tha wo thora mujhe miss v karti hongi. Thora gali bhi deti hogi. (I never behaved badly with anyone, but ye, I have said I love you and will you marry me to every girl at that time. Till now I would have been married 350 times. But it didn’t happen. Till now the number of women I have been with, they probably miss me a little. And they abuse me a little too.)”

Years after her split from Sajid, Gauahar Khan participated in the popular reality TV show, Bigg Boss 7, in 2013. During her journey in the BB house, she got into a relationship with fellow housemate Kushal Tandon. However, the two broke up after a while. Finally, Gauahar found her soulmate in famous influencer Zaid Darbar. The couple got married in Dec 2020 and welcomed their first child in May 2023.
