Kangana Ranaut might want to change her profession from an ace actress to an (outspoken) public speaker as she has landed herself in yet another controversy for “being candid”. Yesterday, at the song launch of Wakhra Swag from her upcoming film Judgementall Hai Kya, Kangana got into a heated argument with a journalist that quickly turned into a fight that went viral on social media.
The actress accused Justin Rao, a journalist working with PTI, of “doing a smear campaign” on her and harming her brand image. It all started when she refused to answer his question at the song’s launch.
Apparently, Justin had given negative reviews to her last film and directorial debut, Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. At the time, he had also tweeted about Kangana’s double standards for releasing Manikarnika in Pakistan when she had slammed actress and activist Shabana Azmi for organising an event in the country post the Uri attacks. Here’s a clip of Kangana’s response to his question:
Post the #Pulwama attack, Kangana had slammed @AzmiShabana and others for even organising an event in Pakistan after the Uri attacks. I asked her, how then, would she view her releasing #Manikarnika in Pakistan *despite* the same Uri Attack? Her response: pic.twitter.com/GMg1EF2sCF

It was probably this previous conversation between them at Manikarnika’s press conference that made the actress refuse to address Justin at the Judgementall Hai Kya event. “I know how you are harming my brand. So, I’m not comfortable answering to you… I cannot answer any of your questions. You have been doing a smear campaign on me,” said the Queen actress to Justin.
Here’s the viral clip from the fight between the two:
In the video, Kangana can be seen trying to make the journalist understand her point of view, “Justin you came to my van. We had lunch together. We had an interview together… You have spent at least three hours in my van. So, you are a friend, and in that context, I’m saying that after you came out of my van things have changed drastically.”
“I know you personally so don’t try and tell me that I’m intimidating you from here. You messaged me personally. So don’t try and tell me I’m ‘being a star’ right now. I’m not being a star. I’m talking to you like a friend,” added the actress.
To this, Justin confirmed, “I never spoke to you for three hours in your van… I interviewed you for half an hour. We did not have lunch. I never messaged you ever. I did my job… An actor can’t accuse me of something.” He even told Kangana to share screenshots of their messages.
Here are a couple of pictures from the launch shared by the film’s producer, Ekta Kapoor on Instagram stories:
Well, you can’t separate drama from Kangana and vice versa. And history is proof of that! Which brings us to Kangana’s sister and spokesperson, Rangoli Chandel. Soon after the fiasco, Rangoli slammed Justin for bashing Kangana and Manikarnika. She tweeted:
Yesh dekho beshram @JustinJRao journalist ko, woh jisne tumhe aazadi di hai, usi ki khilli udao, How dare he mock Manikarnika’s name and openly lie that he never wrote anything about it, lekin Kangana ko khilli udane wali hasi kabhi nahin bhoolti….(contd) pic.twitter.com/S5tThLSgLp

(Contd)….its a shame that @JustinJRao used to pretend to be her friend but when she spoke against cow slaughter and made nationalist film he did major smear campaign against her.

*Sigh*
Other than Kangana Ranaut, Judgementall Hai Kya also stars Rajkummar Rao in the lead role. The two will be seen sharing screen space again after Queen in 2014. Set to release on 26 July, Judgementall Hai Kya is a drama film that revolves around a murder mystery.
