Sometimes, we can’t believe what the internet’s makeup influencers aim to achieve, but boy are we on board when it is this cinematic. Vampire skin is what makeup mavens on social media are championing and it’s got everything to do with Edward Cullen from the Twilight movies. If you’ve been a fan of Twilight, you know what we’re getting at. The shiny crystalline skin of vampires depicted in this film series is the main criterion of this new makeup fad and it has arrived just in time for Halloween 2023.
What Is The Vampire Skin Makeup Trend?
Vampire skin is a makeup trend that was created by influencer August Sombatkamrai in September 2023 and his video tutorial has already racked up over a million views. The trend mimics the skin of a vampire as depicted in the Twilight movie series especially by actor Robert Pattinson in his role of Edward Cullen. In the movie, Cullen shows off his marble-like crystalline skin that shines in the sunlight. It is glittery with a soft focus and reflects light. And that’s exactly what this makeup trend aims to recreate.
The vampire skin trend can be created with a liquid glitter eyeshadow, liquid highlighter, and your regular foundation. These are the products used in the vampire skin tutorial on social media, but you can use whatever makeup glitters you have on hand to ace this trend as well. Some makeup influencers used glitter powders instead of liquid highlighter as you can see in the video above. You can also level up with some more highlighter once you’ve finished blending your base. The final results can only be seen in sunlight or when a spotlight is on you. It isn’t as scary as it sounds; just simply fabulous.
Tips To Slay Vampire Skin With The Right Makeup Products
Step 1: Prep To Glow
Begin with following a thorough skincare routine. Exfoliate so that your skin is super smooth and ready for makeup. After applying skincare, apply a glow-boosting primer on your face and neck.
Step 2: Back Hand Mixing
Place a swipe of liquid glitter eyeshadow in a silver or gold shade, a pump of liquid highlighter, and one to two pumps of foundation on the back of your hand. Mix all three products together and then dot it on your face and neck.
Step 3: Blend & Shine
Use your bare fingers or a foundation brush to blend in the products on your face and neck. Once your base is blended, you can even go in with your favourite holographic highlighters to accentuate your cheekbones, brow bones, and the bridge of your nose. Your skin will appear dewy but on taking a closer look, you will see it glitter when it hits the light.
Now, go ahead and hop on this trend. Don’t forget to whisper, ‘this is the skin of a killer, Bella,’ to yourself in the mirror.
