Yesterday, we watched the first ‘Weekend Ka Vaar’ episode of Bigg Boss OTT. It was a little bit of fun, a little bit of drag, and a little bit of drama. Actually given that it has just been one week into the show, it was a LOTTT of drama. However, amid it all, we did have a heartbreaking moment as well. Last night, Urfi Javed became the first evicted contestant to leave the BB OTT house. The elimination had disappointed us, and even #Sidnaaz’s steller entry inside the house could not make up for it. Here’s why it felt wrong:
She Looked Like The Most Fun Contestant So Far
Urfi is one of those very few contestants in the Bigg Boss history who entered the house sans any show or drama. She was super unfiltered, very entertaining, and had a unique personality. From her way of talking to her style, everything about the girl had us thinking that she was going to be the new Shehnaaz Gill of the house. Seeing her leave so early in the show has quashed all our hopes and well, there isn’t anyone else in the house who’d bring her brand of entertainment to the show for sure.
The Massive Dhoka
While leaving the house, Urfi said that she was getting eliminated because of Zeeshan Khan and well, this is every bit true. She would not have been nominated had Zeeshan (“her partner”) not randomly ditched her mid-week and chosen Divya Agarwal to be his partner. Despite being a friend of hers, he left Urfi vulnerable and hurt in the very first week of the show. And, Zeeshan didn’t show even an iota of remorse during her eviction.
Would They Have Gone Ahead With The Elimination Had It Been A Popular Celeb?
If you happen to be a loyal Bigg Boss follower, you’d know that there have been a lot of first weekend episodes throughout seasons where the makers just decided to do away with elimination. Now, we have just one question–would they have gone ahead with the elimination this week had it been a more popular TV face in her place. To us, it feels highly unlikely. For instance, they would have definitely tried to introduce a twist had it just been Shamita Shetty and Raqesh Bapat in nomination.
Sadly, what’s done is done. Here’s hoping that the makers realise that Urfi would have been an asset to the show and give her a second chance to prove her worth. After all, Rahul Vaidya got a wildcard entry despite voluntarily walking out of the house last season, right?
