The Cannes Film Festival is incomplete without Aishwarya Rai, and we all were eagerly waiting for her appearance this year. The actress arrived on Day 3 and gave us two unique looks. On the red carpet, she wore a silver and black hooded gown from Sophie Couture that came with a large bow in the front. However, the internet wasn’t pleased with her out-of-the-box look and heavily trolled the actress. Now it is Uorfi Javed who has come to Aish’s rescue!
Vivek Agnihotri, the director of Kashmir Files, too had something to say about Aishwarya’s Cannes look. He wasn’t happy with the man who had been hired to fix Aish’s gown. Vivek posted a picture on Twitter in which a man is seen fixing Aish’s gown and wrote, “Have you guys heard of a term called ‘Costume Slaves.’ They are mostly girls (a suited man in this case). You can see them now in India too, with almost every female celeb. Why are we becoming so stupid and oppressive just for such uncomfortable fashion?”
Uorfi Javed, who is also often mocked for her bizarre fashion choices, defended Aishwarya and replied to the director’s tweet, “Mai jaan na chahti hu aapne kaunse fashion school se apni degree lee hai? Aapko dekh ke lagta hai aapko fashion ki kaafi samajh hai, fashion movie aapko direct karni chahiye thi!” (I want to know where you got your fashion degree from. It seems like you know a lot about fashion; you should’ve directed the movie, Fashion).

Not just from Uorfi, Vivek Agnihotri also received harsh comments from netizens over his tweet. Hence, in his next tweet, he clarified that his remark had nothing to do with Aishwarya. He wrote, “My comment has nothing to do with ARB. It’s only about the weird concept of ‘costume slavery’.’ And ARB is not responsible for it. She is just a model/fashion ambassador.”

TBH, regardless of whether the comment was a jibe at Aishwarya Rai or not, we’re glad Uorfi Javed stood up for our queen. After all, women support women, right?
