5 Tips To Keep Your Makeup Application Crack-Free This Season

5 Tips To Keep Your Makeup Application Crack-Free This Season

The chill in the air calls for a lot of changes in your beauty routine, and that includes makeup too. Yes, your skincare needs to get more moisturising in order to thrive in cold weather, but your makeup application also needs some tweaks so that you don’t look ashy and dry this season. In cold weather, your makeup is more prone to cracks and dryness which in turn can have the opposite effect of what you intended to achieve by applying makeup in the first place. If you don’t want creasing and cracking with your makeup this season, follow these essential tips.

Tips For Crack-Free Makeup Application

Don’t Over Bake

This is the biggest mistake you can make in cold weather. Too much powder can cause your makeup to turn super dry and prone to cracking. Instead of applying a thick layer of powder to set your under eyes, apply a super thin layer instead. Pick some powder on a puff and swipe it on the back of your hand to remove any extra product. Then dab that puff on the areas that you wish to powder.

Mist Then Powder

Applying setting mist as the final step of your makeup can end up causing makeup to crack this season. The mist can cause powders to crease. The mist will also wet your face and make your makeup separate if applied incorrectly. The right way to use a mist is to spritz it while blending your foundation so that it allows for a smoother and long-lasting base. After applying foundation, concealer, and cream blush, dampen a sponge with setting mist and go over your face to set the base. You can then follow up with a light sweep of setting powder if desired.

Creamy Mix

A great hack to use to ensure your under-eye concealer doesn’t crack is to either use a lesser product or mix a bit of eye cream with a few dots of concealer for a smooth and hydrating application. The cream will make the concealer more lightweight and smooth and allow it to blend in more seamlessly.

Blend With Brushes

As much as we love makeup sponges, they can sometimes be very unpredictable. So instead of blending your foundation with makeup sponges right away, use a brush first. Brushes will spread the product more evenly on your skin without causing cracks or making your makeup separate. Brushes work especially well when your foundation is full coverage or has a thicker formula. You can use a makeup sponge doused in setting spray to lightly blend after brushing on a foundation as an extra step.

Follow The Right Order

Don’t mess up the order in which you apply makeup products. Always remember that liquids and creams go on first and powders go last. If you want a pigmented blush look, apply cream blush first and later on a powder blush for extra colour payoff.

Try these makeup tips to prevent cracks in your makeup application all season long. Do not forget to also follow a moisturising skincare routine before applying makeup.
