The fashion-forward Bollywood stars that they are, Malaika Arora and Deepika Padukone have more in common than meets the eye. From crossing paths at parties and movie screenings to a penchant for dishing out fashionably chic looks every now and then, one would have imagined that there is certainly a LOT. And they would be right! Case in point: their recent looks which were definite fashion curveballs.
Psst, just in case you were wondering, both exquisite gowns were from the same new designer on their radar!

Wearing a blush nude gown with an embellished collar that featured sequins, Malaika Arora looked every bit of the diva that she is. The corset details and the gathers at the waist in the figure-hugging gown made for a stunning display, as did the fabric pooling at the hem. Adding to its elegance was a faux fur wrap by Dhruv Kapoor and jewellery by Farah Khan.

Speaking of the evening gown that surely made heads turn, Malaika Arora’s sartorial style was courtesy of newcomer Jean-Louis Sabaji, an upcoming Lebanese designer. Finding inspiration from the aesthetics of culture in Mesopotamia and mythical beings, Jean-Louis Sabaji has already been sighted on another leading Bollywood lady we love – Deepika Padukone.

A coral taffeta puffball gown with a high-low skirt from the designer’s ateliers was last seen on Deepika as she made her way to the Filmfare Glamour and Style awards. The expert play of fabric and silhouette, along with the gathers and details at the waist were some of the things seen in both of Jean-Louis Sabaji’s gowns worn by Deepika Padukone and Malaika Arora.

The upcoming designer in fashion directory isn’t the first from his family to make his foray into the industry; his father was one of the founding couturiers in Beirut in the ’80s, making way to promote Lebanon’s diverse artistry.
Considering the impact of Jean-Louis Sabaji’s magical gowns, two of which have already been seen on our favourite divas, we will undoubtedly be seeing more of the designer and his offerings in the near future!
