When it comes to film and theatre directing, Ira Khan is following her father’s footsteps. Aamir Khan’s daughter will be making her directorial debut with a theatrical production titled Euripides’ Medea. The production’s official Instagram account unveiled the first poster of the play. The poster is interestingly not a digital illustration, but a painting done by Aamir Khan’s sister, Farhat Datta.
The poster shows a woman dressed in black, holding a dagger and standing against a red background. Farhat says, “Ira told me about this really interesting Greek mythological story on which she was directing a play. I was intrigued. She said she wanted me to make a painting that would be used as the face of the play in the poster and all the publicity material. She had a clear idea about what the artwork should portray. All the discussions and idea exchanges helped me to give form to her vision.” Here’s a picture of the poster!
One of the most popular Greek tragedies is Euripides’ Medea. Written by Euripides, the tale is about a Greek prince named Jason who abandons and leaves his wife and children for another woman. He marries the princess of Corinth, Glauce, instead. His ex-wife, Medea, grew furious and was heartbroken because she was still in love with Jason. Revenge got the best of her and she ended up killing his new bride by gifting her a poisonous dress and a crown. The material burnt into her skin immediately after putting them on. Medea not only murdered the princess but her children that she had with Jason as well. Medea later escaped, leaving Jason alone with no wife and children.

A little bird told us that the play is scheduled to take place this December. The play will be showcased in selected cities and rehearsals for it have begun in Mumbai.
Previously, Ira Khan even did a photoshoot titled ‘Who Are You?’. She explains in her Insta post that fashion is her tool of exploration.
