Sushmita Sen Brushes Her Way To Glowing Skin

Sushmita Sen Brushes Her Way To Glowing Skin

Sushmita Sen is a true icon! She is the first Indian woman to win the title of Miss Universe and so there’s no denying that she is a beauty with brains. But being the skincare geek that I am, I found this one weird skincare ritual she shared on Instagram to be a little sketchy.

So I did some digging and found out all about her strange tip which is actually a skincare trend. Read on to find out all about it.

What’s The Weird Thing Sushmita Sen Does To Her Skin?

You may find it normal to brush your teeth at night, or even brush your hair for that matter, but Sushmita Sen brushes her face too. And I don’t mean using a brush to apply any kind of skincare or makeup product, she takes a clean face brush and then swipes it on her clean and dry skin.

‘Dry brushing’ is actually a body care trend that Sushmita is doing, but this is a popular technique that is usually only recommended for the body and not for the face.

What Is The Dry Brushing Skincare Trend?

Dry brushing involves using a natural stiff bristle body brush to exfoliate the skin before going in for a shower. The process involves lightly brushing the skin on your body before using any water. It is said that dry brushing can help with not only loosening up the dead skin cells from the upper layer of your skin but also firming up the skin. It can help with cellulite and also to help remove ingrown hair.

A brush like the Dr Barbara Sturm Body Brush – Soft is a good pick if you want to try out the dry brushing body care trend.

Is Dry Brushing Good For The Face?

Some skincare junkies swear by dry brushing the body, but whether or not you should use the same technique on your face is a little dicey. Basically, using a body brush on the face is not a good idea as the skin on your face is delicate and can get damaged with micro-tears. On the other hand, using a super soft face brush like Sushmita is not really bad.

A typical brush used for dry brushing the body has stiff natural bristles which is ideal as the skin on the rest of your body is thicker than that of your face. Sushmita uses a silky soft bristle face brush that is usually used to apply foundation so she isn’t really doing much damage. As far as the benefits of using a soft bristle face brush like Sushmita, there are a few. It can help very gently buff the skin so that dead skin cells can be washed away better after using a face wash.

How To Dry Brush Your Face Correctly?

Use a soft bristled oval face brush like Sushmita Sen. Make sure the brush is clean and sanitise it if it isn’t. Gently swipe the brush over your face when your skin is dry. Once done, use a gentle face wash to cleanse your face and then follow up with a moisturiser. Do not simply dry brush the face and then not follow a cleansing and moisturising step.

My favourite cleanser to use after dry brushing my face with a soft face brush is the MyGlamm SUPERFOODS Watermelon & Raspberry Face Wash.

After cleansing, I make sure my skin is well hydrated and soothed by applying the Dr G Rose Bio Stem Cell Gel on my face.
