Doesn’t matter if you live in Mumbai or Delhi, you know it was a glamorous day yesterday because of the Hindu festival of Ganesh Chaturthi. The whole of Bollywood took to Instagram and posted pictures of themselves giving us all kinds of festive wear inspiration. It all started with a pooja during the day at Salman Khan’s sister, Arpita Khan Sharma’s house followed by a party later in the night. Also, the talk of the ‘gram was the Ganesh Chaturthi party at the Ambani house, Antilia. So much glam!
The festive season has officially begun. Right now it’s Ganesh Chaturthi, then after the Visarjan will come the Navratre and Dandiya nights, followed by Dusshera and before we know it, Diwali will be knocking at our doors. Here are 20 different styles of festive wear from the Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations. These are all you need to enter the festive season Bollywood-style.
Team Sharara-Sharara
1. Kareena Kapoor Khan
Kareena wore a beautiful yellow and pink printed sharara-style suit by Raw Mango and paired it with Amrapali Jewels’ drop earrings, a Potli bag by Pink Potli, and Fizzy Goblet juttis.
2. Malaika Arora Khan
Malaika wore a dusty green coloured sharara set by Simar Dugal with silver embroidery. Although, that stunning clutch purse by Vipul Shah stole the show.
3. Ananya Panday
The upcoming star, Ananya, wore a pink sharara and kurti set by Manish Malhotra and the antique silver threadwork on it is just so festive.
4. Sophie Choudry
Sophie was seen in a Sukriti & Aakriti sharara & tunic set in an elegant powder blue colour that is just perfect for a day function. Can’t deny how surprised we were to see her in non-Manish Malhotra couture.
The Palazzo Pride
5. Kiara Advani
Kiara was seen in a fawn coloured palazzo and kurta set with golden zari embroidery by Manish Malhotra label. Although, we do wish that she hadn’t worn a bright red lipstick.
6. Yami Gautam
Yami kept the glam quotient limited to her jhumkas and wore a dusty blue Anita Dongre palazzo set. A great outfit that you can wear during the day and into the night.
7. Nushrat Bharucha
Nushrat’s cream and brown palazzo suit by Mayyur Girotra couture is perfect for a ghar ka function. It’s simple yet anything but basic.
Tune Suit Suit Karda
8. Karisma Kapoor
Karisma wore a bright yellow churidar suit with contrasting embroidery, again, by Manish Malhotra. He sure is Bollywood’s fave designer.
9. Katrina Kaif
Katrina too, like Yami Gautam, kept it simple in a red salwar suit by Tarun Tahiliani. We would definitely recommend this look for a day event or a small house party this festive season.
10. Athiya Shetty
Another day look taken into the night, Athiya wore a light green anarkali suit in angarkha style by Rahul Mishra. The quirky embroidery on it is oh-so-pretty.
11. Soha Ali Khan
Soha wore a bright yellow Patiala salwar suit with a matching Phulkari dupatta but we can’t understand why the messy bun look, though! Isn’t it giving you them Lohri feels?
12. Ileana D’Cruz
For those with a tricky body type, take cues from Ileana. She wore a solid red anarkali suit by Ridhi Mehra and let her oxidised statement jewellery take care of the rest.
13. Gauri Khan
Gauri, too, was seen in an elegant Manish Malhotra ensemble and this is something so ageless that both you and your mom would look equally amazing in.
14. Fatima Shaikh
Fatima wore a Falguni Shane Peacock pastel anarkali suit with mirror work all over it. Dangal? More like damn, girl!
Team Lehenga
15. Nita Ambani
Nita Ambani, the host of the party, wore a Sabyasachi lehenga in a magnificent maroon colour and glammed up with heavy gold-toned jewellery for the festival.
16. Sanya Malhotra
Just like Kareena, Sanya Malhotra also wore Raw Mango in the form of this olive green ghaghra skirt and kurta set. We’re so digging the dark shade and minimal makeup look this season.
Saree, Not Sorry
17. Madhuri Dixit Nene
Ah, Madhuri, only you can pull off an OTT saree like this with such grace. In a royal blue Anita Dongre saree with an overdose of silver work, this look is also good for a wedding.
18. Shilpa Shetty Kundra
There’s always that one person who goes full folk on occasions. Shilpa is that person. She wore a Vidhi Singhania Benaras handwoven saree in pure gold zari work and lit our festivities manyfold.
19. Hema Malini
The “Dream Girl” looked like a dream come true in a lilac coloured Jungla Banarasi saree by Wrap ‘N Weft. She styled it with a silver minaudière (which we wish was gold-toned like her saree instead).
20. Rekha
Rekha wore her signature Kanjeevaram silk saree in shades of green and looked like an emerald. She carried a potli purse with it and now you know what handbag accessory to carry this season.
