Sridevi’s sudden demise at Mohit Marwah’s wedding in Dubai shook the world. Boney Kapoor lost his best friend, wife and backbone; and Janhvi and Khushi lost their guide and anchor at a very vulnerable stage in life. If there’s anything good that has happened since then, it is the strength and togetherness shown by the Kapoors in coming together for each other. Not only that, they seem to have been able to move past the grief and step forward into new chapters.
While the elders in the family came together to support Boney Kapoor, the kids in the family, all the cousins including Sonam, Rhea, Shanaya and Anshula Kapoor came forward to support and celebrate Janhvi and Khushi Kapoor on Janhvi’s birthday. It was only last year, in an interview that Arjun Kapoor, said “We don’t really meet and spend time together so it doesn’t really exist” about his relationship with Sridevi, Janhvi and Khushi, but these past 10 weeks, he’s been seen comforting and supporting his half sisters.
The Kapoor family never truly accepted Sridevi because they perhaps felt that Boney Kapoor abandoned Arjun Kapoor’s mother, Mona Kapoor to be with her. Arjun has often made it clear in his past interviews that Boney Kapoor’s decision impacted his mother and Anshula him very deeply.
Mona Kapoor passed away a few weeks before Arjun’s first film Ishaqzaade. Arjun revealed in an interview, “For all the sacrifices she has made for me, there is something as payback which sits here right now as I speak to you. I would have liked her to see that. I wish I was in a position where I could tell her that I have managed to make you proud, Ma.” The fact that his mother wasn’t around to see his success, is something he’ll always regret. But in those days Arjun’s sister Anshula Kapoor stood by him like a rock. She came back to India to take care of Arjun and took a job in Delhi.
Arjun added, “There’s no respite from the death of a mother. I always tell people that you are allowed to take your parents for granted to a certain degree but don’t underestimate the power of having them around. They are your backbone. You think it’s there but imagine one day it cracks — you are bound to fall. I have lived my life without a backbone for the last 5 years.” Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why Arjun and Anshula understand the pain Janhvi and Khushi are going through.
Both Anshula and Arjun are doing their best to support and protect the sisters. When a few comments against Janhvi and Khushi were written on Anshula’s post, she stepped forward and slammed the commenter.

Recently, when a website wrote derogatory remarks on Janhvi Kapoor, Arjun took to his Twitter account to slam the site.

Arjun and Anshula were also planning to take their half-sisters for a vacation in London.
While at Mohit Marwah’s wedding, Arjun and Anshula were nowhere to be seen near Boney Kapoor and his family, two and a half months later, at Sonam Kapoor’s wedding, they were in a perfect family portrait. They clicked multiple pictures together and were all about each other.

It’s commendable that Arjun and Anshula didn’t let their bitterness for the past colour the future of their family. The Kapoor family has proved yet again that there’s nothing you can’t get through if you have the support of your family!
