Do you know what year it is? This is the year when many desi divas are making their stylish presence felt across the globe. Sonam Kapoor, for instance, made a head-turning statement at King Charles III’s coronation ceremony at Westminster Abbey. She was also invited to the UK-India Week 2023 reception hosted by UK Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak and left behind a fashionable imprint. Sonam continued her streak of being the best-dressed guest at an event in London and we are lovin’ it.
Sonam attended the Indian Global Forum at Nehru Centre at South Audley Street in London. She was there alongside best-seller author Amish Tripathi. And always, Sonam got the ‘keep it fashionable’ memo right while exuding her love for exquisite and one-of-a-kind sarees. Take a look:
Sonam wore a regal drape by Pankaj S Heritage who is known to revive the rich legacy of Indian textiles. Talking about the saree, fashion stylist Bidipto Das took her ‘Gram and shared that the drape is called VAN VAIBHAV or the “Splendor of the forest”. It is embroidered with real silver and gold wires along with 108 colours of Resham, in Srinagar. The base of the saree is Dhakai tissue weaved in Bengal and the border is done using real zari Kora work done in Varanasi. The blouse also features heavy embroidery at the front.
Rhea Kapoor and her team of stylists did a phenomenal job by layering over a scarf from Celine. They further added a pair of stunning emerald green earrings and stacks of assorted rings from Alice Cicolini. Sonam’s softly smoked eye makeup and sleek bun added a royal touch to her whole ensemble.
We like how Sonam always makes a strong case for traditional sarees and our beautiful Indian textiles. Kudos to her and her team for always picking up the best.
