It’s award season again and the stars are bringing out the big guns for it. And while everyone is on the edge of their seats to see how won ‘best actress’, we wait to see the looks our favourite Bollywood queens will serve hot on the red carpet.
In our opinion, an outstanding outfit deserves an award nomination just as much as an acting performance does. And for last night’s appearances, we nominated Sonam Kapoor’s outfit for one. Did she end up winning?

Yes, THIS happened. Sonam Kapoor put all the top trends of 2018 (corsets, belted sarees, 70s poofy sleeves, capes and fishnet) together into one outrageously sexy saree – yes, saree. Shilpa Shetty… are you reading?
For most of us, even standing in one place, being in a saree is a rather cumbersome task. We’ve tripped on, ripped a part of and messed up the drape of a saree and it’s not difficult for everything to unravel if you’re not careful. Which is why we believe Sonam might actually just be a unicorn – there isn’t much else we can use to justify how the woman is wearing ALL THAT –

– and looking like a dream. Now, there’s so much going on, you might need a breakdown of all the statement elements that are part of Sonam’s all-black look by Shehla Khan.
The Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga actress rocked a jet black saree in eyelash Chantilly lace and paired it with a strapless, Victorian style corset as the blouse. Sonam carried a classic saree drape, cinched at the waist by a matching waist-belt, also crafted in lace.

Moving on to how Sonam layered her exquisite saree with an even more dramatic off-shoulder, floor-sweeping net cape with 70s-style poofy sleeves. With baubles from Narayan Jewellers and Renu Oberoi as the ‘ice’ for the evening, Miss Kapoor Ahuja kicked it out of the park. For all those girls who love being OTT without being OTT, this is how you do it – Sonam takes the cake when it comes to maximalism for the minimalist.
