Not Just Pulse Points, Sonam Kapoor Perfumes Her Hair Too

Not Just Pulse Points, Sonam Kapoor Perfumes Her Hair Too

If there’s one sure-shot fact about Sonam Kapoor it is that she is a little bit extra when it comes to fashion. But the same is true for her beauty rituals too. Case in point: her affinity for hair perfumes and the methods she uses to get her long locks to smell amazing.

Sonam extends the use of fragrances to her hair and I’m obsessed with the OTT way she does it. Apparently, the star uses an Ayurvedic method to dramatically scent her mane if she isn’t spritzing on a hair perfume. Here are all the deets.

Sonam’s Obsession With Hair Perfume

In an interview, Sonam Kapoor said, “ I love having long luscious hair which smells beautiful, it is romantic and very sexy” while revealing an ancient ayurvedic method she follows to add fragrance to her hair.

She admitted her go-to method is pretty dramatic but for other occasions she said, “If I need to be a little less fancy then I use a hair perfume, which is really not that great for your hair but hopefully, someone will come up with something that is really good and it makes your hair smell good.”

What Is Sonam’s Ayurvedic Hair Perfume Hack?

Sonam follows a traditional method to add a scent to her hair. “I love to use a loban with essential oils—it is smoke which perfumes your hair.”

Loban otherwise known as frankincense is popularly used as dhoop in many Indian rituals. The smoke is often used to eliminate bad energies from the house too but it has also long been used to add a smokey scent to the hair as well.

How To Try Sonam’s Traditional Hair Perfume

All you need is some loban rocks and your favourite essential oils along with either a coconut shell or charcoal and an incense pot to burn all these ingredients in. Burn the coconut shell or charcoal and carefully place it in the incense pot. Now, add the loban and essential oils. Once it starts smoking, wave this pot around your hair without touching it so that it can grab the scent.

You can also add sesame seeds, old rice, sugar, and ghee to the burning coconut shell before adding the loban and essential oil for it to burn longer and have a slightly more unique scent.

Benefits Of The Loban Hair Perfume

Loban a.k.a Frankincense has tons of haircare benefits too. It helps naturally dry the hair so that you don’t need to use a blow dryer and inflict any kind of heat damage. The dhoop helps keep the scalp infection-free as well. This hair perfume also soothes the senses and can help reduce migraines.

Essential oils in this DIY ayurvedic hair perfume also help relieve stress and anxiety and put you in a good mood.

If you’re looking to create this ayurvedic hair perfume, get your hands on the Frankincense 250 Grams Pine Resin and pair it with an essential oil that best compliments the Loban fragrance which is the St. Botanica Pure Ylang Ylang Essential Oil.

If Loban is a no-no for you, these over-the-counter hair perfumes are also excellent options:

Mix a few drops of the AVI NATURALS Frankincense Oil in your coconut oil for a champi session before a hair wash. It is an alternative way to reap the benefits of loban for the hair.

The Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Crush Cheirosa 62 Bum Bum Hair & Body Mist smells divine and lingers on the hair for hours together.

Sonam’s really convincing me to take the unconventional route here!
