Sneha Dubey, India’s First Secretary at the United Nations is being lauded by people all over the world for all the right reasons. The young diplomat took the internet by storm for calling out Pakistan for supporting terrorism at the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

In a video that’s now doing the rounds on social media, Sneha can be heard giving a befitting reply to Imran Khan, the PM of Pakistan. Strongly wording her response, she said, “This is the country which is an arsonist disguising itself as a fire-fighter. Pakistan nurtures terrorists in their backyard in the hope that they will only harm their neighbours. Our region, and in fact the entire world, has suffered because of their policies. On the other hand, they are trying to cover up sectarian violence in their country as acts of terror.”

Sneha’s Early Life

The young Indian diplomat spent most of her childhood in Goa and completed her schooling there. Her father works in a multinational company and her mother is a school teacher. Sneha is the first in her family to join the government services as it had always been her childhood dream since she was 12 years old.

Sneha graduated from Pune’s Fergusson College and later completed her MPhil from the School of International Studies, Jawaharlal Nehru University, Delhi. She is a 2012 batch IFS officer and cleared her civil services examination in her very first attempt in 2011. Sneha always aspired to join the Indian Foreign Sevice because she wanted to learn about international affairs, discover new cultures and make important policy decisions that would help people.

Her Career Arc

After becoming an IFS officer, Sneha worked at the Government of India’s Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) as an Under Secretary. She then became India’s Third Secretary at Madrid and in 2014, she was posted to the United Nations and is currently working as India’s First Secretary at the UN.
