Monsoon To Do List: Make These 5 Skincare Switches

Monsoon To Do List: Make These 5 Skincare Switches

Your skin demands an upgrade in your skincare routine during the monsoon season, there’s no doubt about it. If you feel your regular moisturiser is suddenly making your skin look greasy or your favourite face wash isn’t doing its job as well as before, these are all signs. Your skin is trying to tell you to switch up your routine for the rainy weather, and you best answer it with a YES.

Now, if you’re feeling helpless because you thought you had your products all figured out and now are clueless as to what works in this stormy weather, I’m here to help you out. When the humidity is this high thanks to the rains, there are certain formulas that you need to switch to so that you can look fresh and radiant this season. Read on!

Swap Cream Cleansers With Clay Cleansers

If you’re someone who likes using creamy cleansers that are light and moisturising, you may have to stop using them until the rains go away. During the monsoons, the skin needs a little bit of extra cleansing action to draw out impurities and to gently exfoliate dead skin cells. And clay cleansers do exactly that.

With clay cleansers as a part of your monsoon CTM routine, you can even get away with using a face scrub once a week because they effectively and gently exfoliate the skin and can be used daily. The gentle clay cleanser that will save your skin this monsoon is the Body Shop Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Clay Wash.

Swap Oil-Infused Creams With Oil-Free Creams

Your skin will look more greasy if your go-to moisturiser contains natural oils. So, if you want to maintain your radiance, go oil-free. Oil-free moisturisers will hydrate your skin and give a mattifying finish that is best suited for the weather.

You will find that oil-free moisturisers will control excess sebum production but will still be hydrating enough to make you glow. My go-to oil-free moisturiser for the rainy season is the Dr. Sheth’s Ceramide & Vitamin C Brightening Oil-Free Moisturizer.

Swap Illuminating Sunscreens With Mattifying Sunscreens

Yes, that glow from illuminating sunscreens is amazing, but that illuminating formula will only make your skin look oily in the monsoon season. You need something that feels weightless and gives a matte finish.

Matte sunscreens will protect your skin from the sun and it will not make your breakout either. Just how illuminating sunscreens work gorgeously in the summer for that even-toned glow, in the monsoons, matte ones make your skin look more even-toned than illuminating ones. My favourite matte sunscreen that keeps my skin hydrated round the clock is the POPxo H2O Booster Sunscreen Gel.

Swap Sheet Masks With Exfoliating Face Packs

Sheet masks are great for deeply hydrating the skin but you’d be better off with exfoliating face masks that offer hydration too. An exfoliating mask will not only nourish the skin but also remove dead skin cells, therefore revealing your skin’s natural radiance.

I love nature-infused face masks that have exfoliating and hydrating properties in their formula. A mud mask or a gel mask with exfoliating agents is ideal for this season. The Mul Secrets Rejuvenate Skin Firming Mask has worked wonders for my skin this monsoon.

Swap Facial Oils For Sleeping Masks

Hold off on facial oils; they are not suited for the rainy season. Facial oils can make your skin prone to acne when the humidity is so high. So if you feel like your facial massage routine is missing its oil, try massaging your face after putting on a richly textured sleeping mask instead.

A sleeping mask works as well as a facial oil in locking in moisture through the night. A good sleeping mask will also make you wake up to plump-looking skin with a youthful glow. One of the best sleeping masks I’ve tried this season has stress-relieving properties too; it’s called the Dot & Key Skin Plumping Moisture Infusion Water Sleeping Mask.
