Best skincare products you need in Your 20s
The Musts: First and foremost, sunblock! I remember all of the holidays I took in my 20’s, baking out in the sun. so I won’t tell you to completely avoid the sun. But I am definitely going to tell you to at least protect yourself with sunscreen! The ideal usage is about 2 tablespoons every 4 hours when indoors or outdoors; windows do not protect you from the sun! At this stage in your life, you should also start a routine. Get basic facials to keep your skin refreshed and clean and choose the best products according to your skin type for glowing skin. Regular visits to a dermatologist would also be a good move. A good dermatologist can help you establish a skin care regimen and advise you on the best skincare products which change with the season and your skins needs. This is essential at all ages.
POPxo recommends: Suncros Soft Matte Finish Sunscreen SPF 50+ (Rs 575) is the best skincare product for all ages.
For Some Extra TLC: Our 20s is a good time to start mild anti-aging products that contain alpha hydroxy acids. Alpha hydroxy acid containing skincare products are the best to fight early signs of aging like fine lines and mild volume loss due to decreasing amounts of collagen. You can also use peels to treat specific concerns like acne or dullness. Microdermabrasion can help you get rid of superficial tan and exfoliate your skin when needed. Laser facials can more aggressively target pores, fine lines, and pigmentation, if needed.
POPxo recommends: Lotus Herbal Alphamoist Alpha Hydroxy Skin Renewal Oilfree Moisturiser (Rs 285) is an affordable skincare product you can pick.
You Can Do Without: Home remedies! All of my 20-somethings LOVE home remedies and go overboard with them. I have to beg them to stop, you are absolutely okay without them for now!

Best skincare products you need in Your 30s
The Musts: I think every 30-something should start routine laser facials. By this age, you have definitely lost some collagen and therefore noticeable volume. I hate to tell you, but it does go downhill from here, trust me, I know from personal experience. Laser facials target collagen and elastin in the middle layer of the skin that basic facials can’t reach. Lasers act to increase production of collagen and keep your skin tight and youthful. Serums and creams are again the best skincare products you would need for a glowing skin.

POPxo recommends: L’Oreal Paris Age 30+ Skin Perfect Cream SPF 21 PA+++ (Rs 425)
For Some Extra TLC: Retinoids are like the alpha hydroxy acids I recommended in your 20s, but stronger. Also, almost every 30-something could benefit from some amount of botox and fillers to treat laugh lines, under eye circles, forehead wrinkles, and crow’s feet.
POPxo recommends: Dermalogica Overnight Retinol Repair (Rs 7,495)
You Can Do Without: Expensive creams for wrinkles, stretch marks, and under eyes. Unfortunately, they just don’t work. Many women in their 30’s have stretch marks from bearing children, weight fluctuations, or just normal growth from puberty. The only proven way to treat stretch marks is by use of lasers. As for the under eye, many patients come to me complaining of under eye hollows. These commonly occur due to loss of facial volume which is normal with ageing. Many times the only solution is to smooth the hollow with filler or to tighten the skin under the eye with advanced radio frequency treatments.

Best skincare products you need in your 40s
The Musts: Unless you are Wonder Woman, you almost always need some tightening and smoothing at this age. Every 40-something can benefit from botox and fillers which are essential for glowing skin at all ages. Looking for a more natural injectable? PRP, or platelet rich plasma treatment, uses growth factors from your own blood to plump the skin. However, if you aren’t okay with injectables, radio-frequency tightening treatments can have a similar effect. Check out advanced tightening treatments like Ulthera.
POPxo recommends: L’Oreal Paris Age 40+ Skin Perfect Cream SPF 21 PA+++ (Rs 650) is an affordable skincare product you can pick
For Some Extra TLC: Routine masks at night. I can’t rave enough about the Laneige Water Sleeping Mask. When your skin is hydrated and healthy, wrinkles and lines are much less noticeable.
POPxo recommends: Innisfree Green Tea Sleeping Pack (Rs 1,150)for a glowing skin
You Can Do Without: Home tightening treatments. Many of my patients ask me what at-home tightening treatments I recommend and my answer is NONE! Many women at this age panic and want something at home for a quick boost. You are much better off seeking a trusted dermatology and aesthetic centre for your tightening treatments. Ulthera, for example, only requires one session every 1-2 years to maintain your results!
