When it comes to so-called ‘conventional beauty standards’, leave it to Sara Ali Khan and Shraddha Kapoor to keep it real. The two stars have expressed their dislike for a certain makeup trend in separate interviews and it’s an eyebrow-raiser.
Both Shraddha and Sara have explained why they don’t like the contouring makeup technique and why they avoid it as much as they can. It may seem uncanny but I too have mixed feelings about heavy contouring, especially when I’m trying on a minimalist makeup look.
Sara Ali Khan’s Issue With Contouring
When asked about what she considers to be a beauty faux pas, Sara’s answer was contouring. The Kedarnath star believes that it does not look natural and she personally doesn’t like it.
It’s true that a heavy contour can drastically change your facial features and make them look more prominent. But if done too much, it can make you look older.
Heavy contouring isn’t my cup of tea either but sculpting with blush is right up my alley. I like using a brown blush on the sides of my nose and cheekbones like the Color Chemistry Lip & Cheek Tint – Coconut.
Why Shraddha Kapoor Skips Contouring
Shraddha Kapoor says contouring is over-hyped. She doesn’t like or promote the idea of changing the natural contours of her face to meet industry beauty standards.
Shraddha likes to embrace her natural features and enhance them with bronzer instead of contour. She also likes using blush and highlighter to make her cheekbones pop.
Whenever I want to ditch contouring but still need some soft definition, I like using the POPxo Makeup Collection – Hot Damn! – Face & Eye Kit.
In my opinion, one should never go overboard with contouring but a little bit of it is perfectly fine. But if you are a pro or have an MUA like Sara and Shraddha by your side, by all means, go on and experiment!
