Shraddha Kapoor’s love for roses knows no bounds. The actress not only enjoys them in all their flowery, sweet-smelling glory but also turns their petals into something suitable for the skin. I’m talking about every Indian household’s trusty, humble DIY: rosewater.
Shraddha prepares it at home and in no more than 4 steps. You might want to go through her recipe. Because I promise you — there’s no DIY that’s this easy to prep.
Just 4 Steps & You’re Done
This is exactly how Shraddha makes it:
- Rinse a couple of fresh petals with water for a few seconds
- Transfer them to a pan/stove that’s filled with water
- Boil this mixture until the petals have lost their colour
- Strain the petals out of the mixture
Let the water cool completely. Transfer the liquid into a container or (spray) bottle for application. You can refrigerate it for better results. The cooler the water, the better it can counter puffiness and swelling. Use this for a month before preparing a new batch for yourself.
But What Can Rosewater Do?
Rosewater has anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, and anti-bacterial properties; making it a one-stop-shop for swelling, puffiness, and redness. This is especially beneficial for the under-eye area in the morning as well since it treats conditions like acne and rosacea.
Because it’s an astringent, it can tighten and tone the skin for a radiant, youthful look. This quality of rosewater is further amplified by its composition of antioxidants; which can diminish the visibility of lines, wrinkles, and other signs of ageing.
Rosewater can cleanse the skin by unclogging the pores and dislodging dirt and build-up from the skin. The best part is that it’s suitable for different skin types because it balances the natural oils of the skin. This indicates that it hydrates areas that are dry and controls oil production in areas that are oily or oil-prone.
But if you’d rather just buy your rosewater, here are some fine options to choose from:
Thanks for the tip, Shraddha!
