2021 is the year of reboots and we’re not complaining. Why should we when we are getting to watch all our fave shows once again in completely new avatars? From Gossip Girl to Qubool Hai, both Hollywood and the Indian television industry are making sure that their fans are always glued to their screens. And, it’s working! We have been either binge-watching these amazing shows or waiting for their release eagerly. TBH, we love doing both. And now Indian TV show makers are all set to release another series that’s extremely close to our hearts. We are talking about Pavitra Rishta 2.0.
Recently, the hit show completed 12 years, and its lead actress, Ankita Lokhande took to her Instagram handle to thank her fans for all the love. NGL, the live session that she hosted, made everyone teary-eyed. She said, “Sushant is no longer with us and without him, Pavitra Rishta is definitely incomplete. Archana ka Maanav sirf wahi tha (He was the only Maanav to Archana) and without him, everything is incomplete. But, I am sure wherever he is, he is watching us and he’s happy, wherever he is.”
We totes agree! SSR is irreplaceable and there are no two doubts about it. But, you know what they say? The show must go on! Producer Ekta Kapoor has decided to pay tribute to the late actor by making a reboot of the iconic series with Ankita and Shaheer Sheikh as the lead actors. Yep, while the former will reprise her role as Archana, the actor will play Manav.
While talking to a leading publication, casting director Adityoa Suranna said that the show will soon release on an OTT platform. He said, “Pavitra Rishta 2.0 is completely digital. To be honest, it is a challenge for everybody. The task is not only for me but also for the actors who have been locked. If we have seen something already, we have already set a benchmark. If this was a new show, whatever we would do, would be fresh for people. But already, hum sabke paas ek benchmark hai (all of us have a benchmark).”
Apart from Ankita, actress Usha Nadkarni, will also reprise her role as Manav’s mother. Well, we have to say that Shaheer has got big shoes to fill. While talking about the same, Adityoa said, “It is not only for me but for the actors, directors and for everyone. There are two people (from the old cast), Ankita Lokhande is playing Archana’s part, Usha ma’am is playing her part. We have already seen them and have loved them. But for the rest of the actors, they have a challenge. Especially for Manav, for Shaheer Sheikh it is a big challenge to live up to that space. But at the same time, it is a challenge for directors, me and other actors as well.”
While we agree that playing Manav’s character would be a huge responsiblity for Shaheer, we believe that he’s going to nail it like every other role he does.
Well, now that we know all about the actors, we honestly cannot wait to see them on the show again!
