It seems like the year 2020 has pulled us into a very deep rabbit hole of nostalgia. Because honestly, I haven’t heard of this many old shows announcing a ‘reboot’ any other year. It all started with the announcement of the Gossip Girl reboot at the beginning of this year. Then came the F.R.I.E.N.D.S reunion, and later The Fresh Prince Of Bel Air.

And if you grew up in the 90s mesmerised by the empowered women of Sex And The City, cross your fingers, because your prayers might have finally been answered. Yes, you can go back and read that again–the iconic show might *actually* be getting a reboot on HBO Max! And the series would see the return of Sarah Jessica Parker, Cynthia Nixon, and Kristin Davis as Carrie Bradshaw, Miranda Hobbes, and Charlotte York-Goldenblatt, respectively. Sadly, Kim Catrell will not be coming back as the iconic Samantha Jones, but hey, you can’t get *everything* you want, can you?
But on a celebratory note, why don’t you call your BFFs and recreate some iconic SATC looks? These fantastic makeup products will come in handy:
In a previous interview, Sarah Jessica Parker had said she’d be interested to come back as the iconic character all those years later. “I wouldn’t call it a reboot, I would call it a ‘revisit’,” she said. “I’d like to see where all of them are. I’m curious, the world has changed even since the movie,” she added.

And what would SJP like to see in the reboot? The star said it would be interesting to explore “technology and social media” as well as “sexual politics and the #MeToo movement and Time’s Up”. Honestly, we’d LOVE to see Carrie’s take on the #MeToo movement, and whether the sex columnist would now be a popular Instagram influencer!
Candace Bushnell, who originally wrote a column in the New York Observer, which was later adapted into the series, actually did write a follow-up last year, titled Is There Still Sex In The City? In the memoir, Bushnell talks about dating in her 50s in New York City. While OTT platforms are drowning in a sea of shows based on dating in your 20s and women searching for their ‘happily ever after’, it would be refreshing to watch a show that shows what dating is like for women in their 50s!
What would YOU want to see in this iconic reboot? I, for one, would love to see how social media affects dating for the women in SATC–can you imagine Carrie Bradshaw sliding into someone’s DMs?!
