Selena Gomez reclaimed her position as the most-followed woman on Instagram. This only means that Kylie Jenner had to let go of the position she had held for so many years now.
While I stan a good glamm look that the Keeping Up With The Kardashians‘ star serves on the ‘Gram, I think Selena deserves to be on the top. They’re obviously famous for very different reasons, but hear me out.
I have a handful of reasons why Selena deserves it (a little more than Kylie, maybe).
Comfy In Her Own Skin
Selena Gomez epitomises being “comfortable in your own skin.” The founder of Rare Beauty has a very natural approach towards beauty, and it is like a breath of fresh air sometimes.
But Kylie:
Well, Kylie must also be comfortable in her skin, but we hardly see that side of her on her account.
Posts Unfiltered Pictures
In a world where everything we see online tends to impact our day-to-day decisions, many also seek an “unfiltered” approach. And Selena Gomez gets all the brownie points for her no-filter pictures.
But Kylie:
I might have seen a few no-filter posts of Kylie on IG, but are they also unedited and raw? P.S. she’s always wearing makeup, even in her #wokeuplikethis selfies!
Does Not Promote “Flawlessness”
The Calm Down singer’s recent post where you can see her zit is enough evidence that Selena Gomez embraces her flaws and puts them out there for us to see. Everyone has insecurities. There’s no such thing as ‘perfect skin,’ and her photos are proof.
But Kylie:
It is known to all that Kylie has indulged in certain surgeries to alter her facial features (her lips and nose for sure). IDK if it is to look flawless or merely for self-acceptance, but I’m just gonna let this one pass.
Makeup Looks Are More “Doable”
Okay, this is entirely personal. Selena Gomez is known for her subtle approach to beauty, and her makeup looks are quite easy to cop. They’re also quite relevant – I mean, I could totally wear this look for brunch with my colleagues.
But Kylie:
On the contrary, I feel Kylie Jenner’s makeup is so OTT that I can never find the right occasion to go with a full-face Kylie-inspired makeup look. Unless a famous person is reading this and invites me to a red carpet immediately.
It’s clear that I’m biased towards Selena Gomez. But all’s fair in love and fandom!
