Drink water. Work out consistently. Sleep for seven hours. Eat ghar ka khana.
These are the words that every Indian celeb repeats whenever they are asked for fitness tips. But “shauk badi cheez hai” and so is the moolah from brand endorsements. Consequently, many of these celebrities are often seen contradicting themselves and promoting foods that they would never even touch. Here is a list of eight such celebs who made us think that junk food is “the right choice, baby”:
Sara Ali Khan
Sara Ali Khan says No to Chips, but is happy to sell you chips?

Clearly Sara doesn’t eat chips but is happy to join the #Kurkure family and spoil your health?

Sara Ali Khan said with her lips: ‘I wish I could have chips’. (IYKYK). The actress blatantly promotes Kurkure in TV ads and her social media posts for her beloved darshaks! All this, after talking about how she follows a clean diet to maintain her chiselled abs.
Virat Kohli
Our fave cricketer publicly gave up chole bhature for the sake of his fitness. While that convinced me to give up my Sunday treats from Sita Ram, my faith was shaken by his Pepsi endorsement! Thankfully, better sense prevailed and Virat ended his association with the sugary soda that is linked with many lifestyle disorders like diabetes and obesity.
Ranbir Kapoor
Raha’s daddy dear prolly has the hottest dad-bod known to mankind. But have you ever wondered how he maintains those sharp shoulder blades and washboard abs while snacking on sodium and carb-loaded Lays and sipping on the sugary drinks that he endorses?
Ranveer Singh
Ranveer, who doesn’t shy away from flaunting his toned bod, has taken unhealthy food endorsements to a whole new level. He changed his name to Ranveer Ching to make his love for Ching’s Schezwan Chutney seem real at one point. The man even tried making acidity and piles look glamorous by telling the world how you may turn into a “rocket on fire” after eating the spicy sauce packed with sodium, saturated fats, and stomach-burning mirchis.
Deepika Padukone
Deepika‘s off-season airport looks ft all things Louis Vuitton almost made me forget that the actress has had other endorsements in her kitty too including some not-so-healthy foods. The badminton lover and fitness freak once endorsed Pepsi and Coca-Cola. The actress also appeared on our TV screens and made us believe that eating carb-rich cereal for breakfast was the key to getting a slimmer waist. Tsk Tsk.
Shah Rukh Khan
King Khan’s list of brands is just as mighty as the man himself. Unfortunately, it features some of the unhealthiest foods. Pepsi, Coca-Cola, paan masala, cover-up products for alcohol brands—he has indeed done it all. Mr Pathaan is now set to vouch for his son’s yet-to-be-launched vodka brand and I honestly think Dilwale Hospital Le Jayenge!
Priyanka Chopra
Priyanka Chopra in her sultry Sonia Roy tone asks the nation to enjoy Rajnigandha pearls. She then uses her fierce Don avatar and makes sipping on Appy Fizz look cooler than ever. The next moment, we see her making waves in a bodycon dress on a red carpet while flaunting her toned body and can’t help but wonder, “Where are all those calories going, dude?”
Salman Khan
“Thumbs down” to this megastar for endorsing a sugary soft drink full of empty calories and sodium. For someone who cycles his way to the film sets and exercises late at night to keep fit, this endorsement is a major letdown.
Here’s wishing these celebs become more aware of their influence and start signing endorsements responsibly!
