Unlike the filmy Bollywood movies that give us false hope, real-life romances in B-town don’t last forever. Many actors have dated and broken up in the past. However, Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai’s breakup became one of the biggest B-town controversy, and well, many fans may still not be over it. But did you know that the two were actually planning to get married?
A clip from the Kapil Sharma Show recently resurfaced on the internet in which Salman Khan’s best friend, Sajid Nadiadwala, ended up spilling some tea. He stated that back in the 1990s, the two best friends made a pact to never get married. However, in 1999, Salman decided that he wanted to get married and told Sajid the same. What happened next is unbelievable!
The director said, “We were planning to get married on the same day, on November 18 (when Sajid married Warda Khan in 2000). That time Salman had someone to get married to, but I had to search for one. I finally found someone, and 5-6 days before the wedding, Salman said that he was no longer in the mood to get married. He got out of it, but I still had to get married.”

Since this scenario took place in 1999, people believe Salman was going to marry his then-girlfriend, Aishwarya Rai, whom he dated from 1999 to 2001. The two were thought to be madly in love, and this was Salman’s most serious relationship. As a result, it’s not surprising that he decided to commit to her for the rest of his life. However, he changed his mind at the last minute. We wonder why, and we’re curious how Aishwarya might have reacted to the sudden “change of mood.”
Why Did Salman & Aishwarya Break Up?
As per rumours, Aishwarya was the one who ended the relationship because of Salman’s alleged alcoholism and abuse. In an interview, she also stated that Salman had not come to terms with their split and would cause physical injuries to himself when she refused to take his calls. In 2002, the actress issued a clarification, “For the sake of my well-being, my sanity, my dignity, and the dignity and self-respect of my family, enough! I will not work with Mr. Salman Khan. The Salman chapter was a nightmare in my life, and I am thankful to God that it is over!”
Well, everyone has had that one bad breakup in their life that changes them as a person. Salman Khan and Aishwarya Rai have both evolved as human beings, and we’re glad that they’re both happy in their own lives!
