While Sabyasachi’s garments will always be iconic, his accessories have garnered a separate fan base. From the Bengal tiger belt to the Nani bucket bag, the designer has created some cult favourites over the years. However, I suspect that something fresh might be brewing at the Sabyasachi headquarters.

Look closely at the pictures and videos from Sabysachi’s latest collection and you’d know what I am talking about. Almost all of his models are wearing a watch along with their Indian couture and heavy jewellery. In fact, this has been going on for a while now and is quite fascinating.
The designer has been subtly highlighting these tickers in recent campaigns. And given his attention to detail, it is unlikely that the watches are just there to elevate the look.
Plus, if you notice all of the Sabyacshi models are styled in nothing but creations from the designer. To highlight watches that weren’t made by him doesn’t seem like something that he’d do. After all, Sabya is as marvellous a businessman as he is a designer.

That said, I am pretty sure if Sabya is finally launching wrist watches, they will retail at a premium price. I am guessing nothing less than a few lakhs. And you know what? I’ll purchase the hell out of this launch! Guess this is how I break my “no debt” rule.
