Saba Azad’s Secret To Long, Lustrous Hair Is As Bitter As It Gets

Saba Azad’s Secret To Long, Lustrous Hair Is As Bitter As It Gets

If you’re cued into Bollywood or the Indian cultural scene, you know who Saba Azad is. If not, you’d better look her up. The 37-year-old multi-talented diva is an absolute stunner both on and off the screen. One look at her Instagram and you won’t be able to take your eyes off her healthy long locks. And she revealed some of her favourite beauty secrets!

In an interview, Saba shared the secret recipe for her long and shiny locks. And the best part? You can whip this up at home!

Saba Azad’s Haircare Secrets

The first thing anybody would observe about her from her Instagram is her thick, shiny black hair. I’ll call it advertisement hair because it’s exactly the kind of hair you see in shampoo and haircare ads on television. In a candid chat with Tweak India, Saba spilt the details of how she maintains her hair health. And no, it’s none of that OTC stuff but actual things you’d find in your kitchen!

Azad sips on a smoothie that she whips up. “So I do the smoothie, which is not really delicious but it’s excellent for hair and it’s really good for skin as well.”

In a blender, she whips up a beetroot, half an orange, some ginger, a little amla, and a little banana – all excellent beauty ingredients. Once it forms a thick consistency, pour this into a glass and sip on it.

That’s not all, she even makes her own hair oil to soothe her strands for when they need some pampering after all the heat damage they go through! She tempers onion, hibiscus, methi, and curry leaves and lets it brew for a bit before giving herself a massage with it.

Why Saba’s Home Remedies Work

Both of Saba’s home remedies are fail-proof. While one works on both the hair and skin from within, the other gives the strands external stimulation.

Amla is rich in Vitamin E making it an excellent moisturising ingredient that helps counter dryness.

Banana is packed with magnesium, potassium, antioxidants, and vitamin C to name a few, that work together to reduce hair fall. DIY home remedies for hair often include bananas for this reason.

Rich in Vitamin A and calcium, beetroot is known to prevent hair loss, tighten the pores on the scalp and boost new hair growth.

Onion is another ingredient that is not only found in oils but can also be applied in juice form on the scalp. It is rich in sulphur which helps prevent breakage.

The hibiscus flower, curry leaves and fenugreek (methi) excel at stimulating hair growth and act as natural colour to cover up greys. They can also help slow down the premature greying of strands since they contain essential nutrients and vitamins.
